Chapter 64 The Bargain
“Really?” Natalie smiled faintly. “Then do you think Mr. Marcus will bring you a gift tonight?”
“I think he definitely will.”
Lily’s face lit up, her eyes
full of anticipation.
Five minutes later, a knock sounded at the door.
Natalie looked up as the waiter pushed it open, revealing a tall figure behind him.
Marcus strode in, perfectly tailored suit framing his broad shoulders, a large stuffed rabbit cradled in one arm.
Natalie glanced at Lily.
The two shared a quick, knowing smile.
That kind of unspoken understanding–there was no denying the bond between them resembled father and daughter.
“Dad.”
Lily’s voice was soft, but Marcus heard it clearly. Still, he couldn’t resist teasing. “What did you call me? I didn’t quite hear.”

Natalie glanced at her, then turned back, nodding. “That’s right.”

When he stayed silent, Natalie continued. “But I won’t ask for your help for nothing. I’ll give you something in return.”
His low laugh brushed against the air. “So Ms. Foster really is half a businesswoman. Your clinic hasn’t even opened yet, but you’re already striking deals.”
“I don’t know much about business,” she replied. “But I know enough about people.”
