Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 106

Jude Pierce felt his heart plummet. Only one thought echoed in his mind: This is it. I'm finished.

His phone buzzed insistently in his hand. He glanced at the flashing caller ID and, resigned, picked up.

"Hello, Mr.—"

Before he could finish, Stellan's cold voice cut through. "Jude Pierce, is there really someone in our company spreading rumors like a rotten apple in a barrel?"

A lighter flicked in Stellan's hand, the small flame casting shadows across his sharp features. "I'm giving you fifteen minutes. That's all."

With a sharp click, the call ended.

Jude let out a bitter laugh. Of all the people to cross, why did someone have to pick the one person you absolutely can't afford to mess with?

Meanwhile, Wyatt had been blowing up Alfven Harrison's phone, calling three times in a row.

Alfven finally answered, exasperated. "Wyatt, is your protégé really that precious?"

"Director Harrison, she's the most promising young attorney we've had in years. Of course I want to protect her."

"I vouch for her character, personally. She's not the kind of person people are making her out to be. Director Harrison, you can't just take a few rumors at face value and dismiss her, can you?"

Alfven chuckled. "I haven't dismissed her, Wyatt. She just isn't the right fit for this project, for now. I got a personal call about it, and I do have to show some respect."

"It's just a change in co-counsel, it doesn't affect your status. You understand, right?"

Wyatt was about to protest when Alfven saw another call coming in. "Alright, alright, I've got another call. We'll talk later."

Alfven picked up the new call. The voice on the other end got straight to the point.

"Hello, Director Harrison. This is Jude Pierce, lead manager for the Lawson Corporation merger acquisition."

"I'm terribly sorry. I heard someone from my company has been spreading rumors about Attorney Carrington from your firm. Our CEO is furious. Could you tell me who started these rumors?"

Alfven was caught off guard. "Rumors? Even Mr. Lawson knows about this, Manager Pierce?"

Jude had only just learned that Miss Bennett and Attorney Carrington had some history.

Stellan sneered. "Luna?"

"Yes, Mr. Lawson. Miss Bennett and Rosalie were classmates in high school."

At the Lawson estate, Abbot seemed to be coming to terms with Tristan and Luna's relationship.

Still, he couldn't quite hide his reluctance.

No family likes seeing their beloved granddaughter suddenly become their daughter-in-law.

"So, Tristan, when are you and Luna planning to tie the knot?"

Luna's heart fluttered with joy. She stole a quick glance at the man beside her, only to find his brow furrowed in deep thought, as if still hesitating.
