Sunny didn't feel sad in the slightest—if anything, she just found that annoying couple slightly nauseating.
All she wanted was to go home and unwind, but just as she was about to slip into her pajamas, a message popped up from her best friend.
*Babe, have you found some new flame and forgotten all about me?!*
Sunny couldn't help but laugh, quickly typing back: *Zara, darling, how could I? You're my one and only queen.*
*Good! Then your queen commands you to get your royal butt over to Jade & Pearl Wellness right now so we can be gorgeous together.*
Sunny's lips curled in amusement as she replied, "Sorry, babe, but I've always been gorgeous."
Half an hour later, she arrived at Jade & Pearl Wellness.
"Princess, you finally made it!" Zara's face was covered in a thick clay mask, making her words sound both regal and ridiculous.
Sunny bit back a smile. "I've been busy lately, my dear consort. Forgive me for neglecting you."
"Hmph! As long as you know."
Sunny reclined on a treatment bed, and the esthetician began to gently remove her makeup. "Miss Carrington, your skin is still so smooth and soft."
*Porcelain-perfect* barely did her justice.
If she were Sunny, she'd never bother coming to a spa for maintenance.
Sunny was used to these compliments. "Just a basic hydration facial for me, please."
Zara sighed dramatically. "Sunny, if I had even half your genes, I'd be set. I swear, after that vacation, I came back three shades darker!"
"Miss Lawson, your skin is lovely too," the esthetician chimed, piling on the flattery.
With their faces slathered in masks, the two friends settled in to gossip.
"Sunny, get this—my mom told me my brother's marrying Luna next month!"
Sunny chuckled. "I know. I just ran into her, actually. She couldn't wait to brag about it."
"Who?" Zara shot upright, mask cracking. "Luna actually had the nerve to brag to you?"
"She really did!" Zara was fuming.
Well, look at that—the boss's sweetheart was here, too.
"Then both of you should come. Zara, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Next time, I might not be so generous."
Zara's eyes sparkled as she covered the phone. "Sunny, wanna have Japanese for dinner?"
Sunny was about to decline.
She knew Caleb—he was the same guy Stellan had introduced her to as Dr. Mitchell a few times before.
But Zara didn't even give her a chance to say no. "We're in! Text me the address."
Sunny could only sigh.
Zara hung up and grinned wickedly. "Sunny, you have no idea—Caleb's the cheapest guy alive. Tonight, we eat until he cries. I won't let him off easy!"
The two of them had been rivals for years, so Sunny just laughed and agreed.
Caleb, feeling victorious, waved his phone in the air. "See ya, boss Lawson, I'm out of here."
