Stand Me Up? I'll Marry His Billionaire Uncle novel Chapter 137

The meeting dragged on for two hours, wrapping up just as the workday was coming to an end.

Jude Pierce deliberately called Wyatt aside, and the two slipped into his office for a private conversation.

Meanwhile, Sunny stayed behind in the conference room, tidying up her notes from the meeting. She didn't notice that everyone else had already left; only Stellan remained, lingering as if he had all the time in the world.

He tapped his fingers lightly on the table. "So, are we still on for our date this weekend?"

His smooth, gentle voice broke the silence, startling Sunny. She glanced around and realized, with a jolt, that it was just the two of them left in the room. Still, she kept her guard up and lowered her voice. "Mr. Lawson, we're just going to look at furniture stores this weekend. It's not a date."

Stellan raised an eyebrow. "Sorry, what was that? Didn't quite catch it."

Sunny clammed up immediately, not wanting to argue. Besides, she was nervous someone might walk in and see them together, which would be impossible to explain away.

"Anyway, see you this weekend," she muttered, hastily stuffing her notebook into her bag and heading for the door.

Stellan watched her go, one hand tucked into his pocket, lips curving into a teasing smile. "She really is so skittish."

As Sunny hurried down the hallway, she pulled out her phone to text Wyatt.

[Boss, I'll wait for you in the parking lot.]

Before she could put her phone away, she accidentally walked straight into someone. Looking up, her eyes widened—it was Mr. Lawson.

Magnus looked equally surprised. "Sunny? Are you here to see me?"

Sunny shook her head quickly. "No, Mr. Lawson. I'm here for work."

Magnus's eyes narrowed. "Find an opportunity to sound out Jude Pierce. If he really knows, you can give him a little nudge."

The implication was clear: Magnus didn't want anyone getting the impression that Sunny still had any ties to the Lawson family. She'd chosen not to be their daughter-in-law, so she no longer had the right to enjoy any of their privileges.

The assistant nodded. "Understood."

When Jude saw the CEO return, he finally dismissed Wyatt. Honestly, the things he did to cover for the boss—he really deserved a raise come bonus season.

But instead of hearing from HR about a bigger year-end bonus, he got a visit from someone in President Lawson's circle.

"Assistant Lewis, did you need something from me?"
