From Sean's tone and choice of words, Magnus picked up on the unspoken message: the wedding would proceed as scheduled.
In that instant, relief washed over him.
"I heard you've been seeking financing from the bank lately?" Magnus asked, a faint smile playing at his lips.
Sean's expression sharpened, but he forced a chuckle. "Yeah, that's right. A few of our projects have had minor cash flow issues, but it's nothing serious."
Magnus didn't call out the lie. "Well, I happen to be interested in your resort development. Why don't you have someone from your side meet with our investment manager, Vance, tomorrow?"
Sean could scarcely contain his delight. He knew that as long as his company was tied to the Lawsons, their financial problems would all but disappear.
Look at that—money was already knocking at the door.
"Absolutely, I'll have someone reach out first thing tomorrow," Sean said, barely containing his excitement.

The next morning, Sunny arrived at the law firm to find her boss in unusually high spirits.
"Sunny, you're here! Did you have breakfast? If not, go grab something downstairs before coming up."
Usually, if anyone was late by even a minute, he'd launch into a lecture about how punctuality was a lawyer's most important virtue.
Was the sun rising in the west today?
Lily Williams rolled her chair over to Sunny, whispering conspiratorially, "The boss is going to sign a contract soon."
"Whose contract?" Sunny was a beat behind.
"Who else? The one he's been obsessing over for weeks."
Sunny's eyes widened. Was it really happening?
She hadn't expected this. So, Stellan had really heard everything at dinner last night!
Clutching her phone, Sunny hesitated, then typed out a message:
Still, he let it go. "Alright, get your things. Come with me to Lawson Corporation. We can't afford any mistakes today!"
"Yes, sir!" Sunny replied.
She snuck a glance at her phone—a huge question mark had popped up from the other side.
Sunny wanted to crawl under her desk. She hadn't meant to ignore Stellan's call, but how could she possibly answer it in front of her boss?
Stellan gazed at his phone, a knowing smile flickering across his lips as he exhaled softly.
His office phone rang. Setting his cell aside, Stellan picked up the receiver. "Hello?"
Jude Pierce, hearing his boss's cool, detached tone, felt a chill run down his spine. "Mr. Lawson, the team from Summit Legal will be here shortly to sign the contract. Will you be joining us?"
A faint smile curled Stellan's lips. He replied simply, "I'll be there."
No matter how much he tried to avoid it, he knew he'd have to face her soon enough.
