Swapping a Broken Heart for a New Start novel Chapter 101

Larry Adams was still the one showing them around the whole time.

After all the paperwork was done, he took Lillian for another walk through the school, helping the little one get comfortable and ready for her big first day.

Meanwhile, across town at another elite preschool...

Jordan Smith was there with Sandra Taylor and her son, Daniel, getting Daniel signed up for the new school year.

The admissions teacher greeted them with the utmost respect. “Mr. Smith, Mrs. Smith, please rest assured—Daniel will be well taken care of here. If anything comes up, we’ll be sure to keep you in the loop. We want him to feel right at home.”

Sandra’s cheeks flushed a little at being called “Mrs. Smith,” but she didn’t bother correcting the teacher.

Jordan didn’t say anything about it either. In fact, he smiled politely and said, “Thank you. We appreciate your attention. Please do keep an eye on him.”

“Of course,” the teacher replied, beaming. “Daniel is such a sweet kid—I’m sure he’ll make friends in no time!”

Jordan nodded and gently ruffled Daniel’s hair. It was a simple gesture, but you could see how much he cared for the boy.

Daniel beamed up at him, all dimples and sunshine.

The teacher noticed the warmth between them and became even more attentive, personally escorting the “family” out to their car once everything was finished.

As soon as they got into the car, Daniel piped up, “Today was awesome! Uncle Jordan, thanks for coming with me. You’re just like a dad—and the other kids kept staring at us! I bet they thought my dad was really cool. I wish it was true!”

Sandra shot him a mock glare. “You little rascal, don’t talk nonsense!”

Then she turned to Jordan, her tone gentle as spring rain. “Don’t mind him, Jordan. Kids say the funniest things. But thank you for coming today—it really meant a lot to us.”
