So instead, I throw myself into Shane’s pack management. Sebi turned out to be a better replacement for Enya that I thought she would be. Whether she was trying to prove herself to Shane or she really does care about what she’s doing, my fly by the seat of her pants sister was serious about making sure the work was done and done right. I’m actually very proud of her.
Without Enya to distract me, and with me needing something to focus on other than how much I miss her, I began pouring myself into the pack. Shane and I got the finances sorted and then we looked at investment opportunities so we could make his pack’s finances more profitable. It won’t happen right away, but over time, his pack will become very financially sound.
I’ve had several she–wolves offer to warm my bed, but I have no interest in any of them. I don’t want anyone except Enya. I know that’s crazy and if she’s not my mate, I don’t know what I will do. Most nights, specifically on Tuesdays and Fridays when they run the men’s sex class, I lay in bed wondering if she’s still thinking of me. I wonder if her new partner made her come, if he made her forget about me, if he’s learned all the little places on her body that make her shiver, moan, and whimper.
Those nights, I get no sleep at all.
After spending a week each with Shane and Braden’s top two candidates for the Gamma position, I decided on the one I felt was the better candidate based on my time with them. They offered the position to him. Once he accepted, we had the Gamma ceremony and the three of them began working together. It’s good for them, because they are running the pack as the team that they should be. For me, though, the timing couldn’t be worse. Just as I need work to fill my days, they are taking more of the workload from me.
So, I turned to warrior training. I had turned over the warrior training to Shane and Braden just after Enya left, but as they took on more pack duties, I suggested that I could keep either morning or evening pack training to provide a different level of skill to the entire pack. I also offered to work with Jaden, the new Gamma, one–on–one to increase his skills.
Since I’m still working with Shane and Braden as well, most of my days are spent sparring. It’s good because I’m physically exhausted at the end of every day, but in the end, it doesn’t matter. I can only sleep on the nights when Enya emails me, and those nights are becoming fewer and farther between the longer she’s at the Academy.
