She turned again and stepped out of the room, opening the door to the next one. It was almost a carbon copy of the first room she had entered. The only thing setting them apart was the name etched on the door.
The names drew inspiration from classical elements and zodiac signs. Back when Mirabella was learning the art of mechanisms from her mentor, she dabbled a bit in astrology and mysticism. But she found it all a bit dull, so she only learned the basics of elements and zodiac signs.
These identical rooms... if she had it right, they were laid out based on some secret mystical pattern, and since she stepped onto the second floor, she was caught in this intricate puzzle. Getting out wasn’t going to be easy.
To unravel this mystical puzzle, she'd have to figure out the focal point of the setup. Mirabella pressed her fingers to her brow, leaving another room with the same stoic expression.
Clearly, her habit of slacking off in her studies was biting her now. Forget about finding the focal point; even just leaving was proving to be a challenge.
Taking a deep breath, Mirabella prepared to continue searching for a pattern, when suddenly she looked up, her eyes catching a glimpse of something dark darting past the corner of the hallway.
Her eyes narrowed, and without missing a beat, she took off after it. As she rounded the corner, she found another long hallway, looking just like the one she had walked through earlier. It was empty, with no sign of the shadow.
Mirabella's brow furrowed, but she stayed on high alert, pacing slowly and steadily down the hallway. Time seemed to drag, and the air was eerily still.
It wasn’t until she reached out and flung open a door marked 'Fire' that things shifted dramatically. Suddenly, she was in a new space, filled with control mechanisms, completely unlike the rooms she had seen before.
Looking at the dormant mechanisms, Mirabella realized this was the focal point. And—
It was likely the heart of this mysterious floating mansion. But even as she found the focal point, there was no joy in her expression; her brow furrowed even tighter.
