"No one really noticed, but he might have headed to the back hall," someone replied.
Mr. Maverick was keeping his true identity under wraps with the archaeology team, so everyone just called him Maverick.
"And it looks like James and his group are missing too."
Finally realizing they were short a few people, the team paused their examination of the artifacts in the main hall and exchanged worried looks.
Just as they were about to start searching for the missing members, the tremor they thought was subsiding suddenly ramped up, ending in a massive rumble from below that shook the entire palace violently.
The team almost lost their footing from the tremors.
The shaking continued, with chunks of plaster falling from above, making it seem like the whole place might collapse.
"This is bad, someone must have triggered something, it's going to cave in," said one of the geologists, his face pale with fear.
At that moment, a deep voice cut through the chaos, "Let's move, get out of here now."
Mr. Maverick appeared out of nowhere, urging everyone to leave quickly, striding swiftly towards the exit.
This wasn't your typical ancient tomb; it was a palace suspended mid-air. If it caved in, it would drop straight down.
Seeing this, the others quickly gave up on searching and hustled after Mr. Maverick as fast as they could.
In those few seconds, no one noticed that the floating palace had already sunk several inches, and the iron bridge leading outside was swinging wildly.
Meanwhile, James, still inside the palace, was trying to contact Mirabella with his communicator while searching for a way out in the side hall.
