The old saying went, if one wanted to destroy someone, first drive them mad. Sure enough, Hailey’s expression twisted as she jabbed a finger at Kayla, then at herself. “You’re calling me a stray?”
Kayla shrugged with an innocent look. “Those were your words, not mine.”
The moment she said it, several students watching on the side burst into laughter.
Hailey realized she had walked right into Kayla’s trap, and anger surged hotter in her chest.
“You bitch, how dare you make a fool of me. Watch me-” She rolled up her sleeves and made to lunge forward.
But Kayla let go of the fruit knife she was holding, flicking it open in her palm. The blade snapped free with a flash of cold steel. She smirked. “Are you sure you still want to try?”

In the meantime, Kayla arched a brow at Marianna and thought, ‘I have to admit, I really admire how smooth

Marianna is with her words,
What she said looked like she was standing up for me, but in reality, she just shifted Hailey’s attention to my pregnancy. Typical Marianna, always acting and stirring things up. Makes me wonder how she was raised to be so good at this.
