A flash of disdain crossed Kayla’s face, and it cut right into Davon’s pride. “Kayla, what’s that supposed to mean?” he snapped, guilt twisting in his chest.

Kayla let out a cold, mocking laugh. “What do you think I mean? Where do you think all your food and stuff comes from? Or are you just clueless? And tell your mom to stop asking me for money. I’m not your dad. I don’t owe you or her anything.”

The second Kayla finished, everyone in Class G started whispering and pointing at Davon. The rumors about him being a love child whose whole family lived off Kayla’s charity spread through the crowd like wildfire.

Davon felt like Kayla had just ground his face into the dirt. Humiliation burned through him, making his temper flare hot and fast.

Class was about to start, and Kayla was done wasting time on these two. She turned to leave, but Davon grabbed her arm and yanked her back.

“You think you can just knock someone down and walk away? No way. You owe Maria an apology,” Davon snapped.
