But he swallowed it down and answered slowly, “Amelia already ended her contract with us. She’s not joining any competition.”

Gianna’s bright eyes immediately dulled, and her smile froze in place.

“What? She really had enough money to buy out her contract?” She couldn’t believe Amelia had that kind of ability.

“She didn’t pay anything.”

“What?” Gianna’s mind clicked instantly.

So he still cares about Amelia. He just let her walk away without demanding a penalty.

Thinking that, Gianna burned with anger and jealousy, though her face stayed sweet and calm.

Then, with an innocent little smile, she said softly,

“Maxwell, I get it. She’s family, after all. How could we actually charge her? You only did it to push her into giving in and coming back–1 totally understand.”

In the past, seeing her act this way would’ve melted him instantly, making him want to protect

her.

“She even said one day she’d get revenge on you and mom and dad–make sure none of you have a happy ending!

“I was terrified when I heard it, so I lost control. I just didn’t want any of you to get hurt, so I did what I did.

“You think I didn’t know there were cameras? I just panicked, thinking she might actually try something, so I acted without thinking.”

Her eyes were red, tears spilling as she cried harder.

“Maxwell, it’s my fault. I acted on impulse, I almost made a mess of everything, and now I’ve put you in a tough spot.

“Sob… maybe I should move out. I can’t face anyone at home anymore.”
