As Jeremy pulled her along by the hand, Amelia couldn’t help but laugh at his line about “calling the cops.”

When they reached the parking garage, Jeremy led her straight to a sleek black luxury car. He then opened the door for her like a total gentleman.

As he got behind the wheel, Amelia slid into the passenger seat and buckled in.

The car was quiet, but the air felt charged. Amelia kept sneaking looks at him. She admired his sharp features: straight nose, firm jaw, and his thin lips pressed together.

No use denying it: he was ridiculously handsome. The kind of man who could coast on looks alone, yet clearly had power and brains on top of it.

“Done staring?” Jeremy’s deep, smooth voice suddenly broke the silence. “If not, I can drive you home and make you some coffee. Then you can stare as long as you want.”

Amelia’s face heated instantly. She yanked her gaze away, fumbling, “N–no, not done yet.”

The second the words slipped out, she wished the ground would swallow her whole.

Jeremy, though, just smiled to himself.

This girl is too cute. A tiny bit of teasing, and she turns pink. It’s so different from her usual tough self.

He’d wanted to step in and protect her for a while now, but never had the right chance.

Tonight, she basically handed him a textbook “knight saves the damsel” moment. Of course, he wasn’t gonna let it slip.

Meanwhile, Gianna was still stewing from the scene at the restaurant. Getting embarrassed in front of someone like Jeremy burned even worse.

She convinced herself Amelia must’ve trashed her behind her back, making him misunderstand.

I’m not gonna let Amelia get away with that!

Back at the Nygards‘ mansion, Gianna went right back to her usual routine–crying on cue.

Maxwell had just walked in and instantly spotted his precious little sister trying to hide her

tears.

“Sob… I–it’s nothing, Maxwell. Don’t worry about it,” she said, starting for the stairs.

“That’s not nothing,” he stopped her, grabbing her arm. “Tell me. Who upset you?”

“Well … I was out eating with friends and … I bumped into Amelia.” She hesitated, as if it was hard for her to say.

Then she spun the story, making it sound like Amelia had picked on her and even dragged Jeremy into it.

She really was good at flipping the truth.

“Amelia did that? How dare she!” Maxwell’s face darkened.

His eyes burned with anger as he slammed his palm on the table, making the cup jump.

What is she trying to pull? Is she openly going against me now?

I haven’t even punished her for using Tony’s script. And now she’s bullying Gianna too? This is outrageous!

Tony isn’t vital to the company. Amelia secretly setting up her own business and poaching him could’ve been overlooked.

His script isn’t even worth my time. But Amelia keeps pushing me. It’s obvious she’s trying to humiliate me!

Haven’t I treated her well before? Is she just jealous that Gianna was welcomed into the family?

Gianna’s father died saving ours, and her mom passed away early. Of course, we took care of her. It’s only right.

But Amelia? She’s so cold, ungrateful, and selfish. She doesn’t even appreciate everything we do!

“Maxwell, don’t get so angry. I think Amelia’s just venting her frustrations on us,” Gianna said softly.

“Hmph. What does she have to be frustrated about? We have done nothing wrong to her! She’s the one with no gratitude, no respect!”

He couldn’t understand why Thea and Ursula still coddled that brat, protecting her at every

turn.

“Don’t bring her up again. It ruins my mood,” Maxwell snapped.

Once she hits walls out there and suffers enough, she’ll realize the only safe place is under the Nygards‘ roof.
