Chapter 150 She is So Inconsiderate
When he started dragging her family into it, Patience was even more annoyed. “Ever since I left you, my life has been amazing. You really don’t need to worry about me, OK?”
She really meant every word.
After leaving the Nygard Group, her life just kept getting better.
Once she left the country, her brother didn’t have her to rely on anymore, so he had to shape up and start living independently.
Seeing Maxwell try to use her family against her, Patience’s eyes flickered as she remembered something Amelia had told her.
She shot back at him coldly.
“Maxwell, have you ever stopped to think about why we always argued? Every single fight can be traced back to your lovely sister, Gianna.
“In fact, she’s the reason we broke up. Have you really never thought about that?”
Her words caught Maxwell off guard. He blurted out, “What do you mean by that?”
“Heh, the meaning is obvious.”
Patience leaned in close, stood on her tiptoes, and whispered something in his ear.
Maxwell was left frozen, completely stunned, as Patience turned and walked away in style.
He didn’t snap out of it until her figure finally disappeared from view.
He just stood there, her words replaying in his mind:
“Gianna never wanted us together. She wants you to stay single forever. She hopes all three of her brothers will never get married, so she can always be their little sister. Can you believe that?”
Gianna didn’t want him and Patience to be together?
She didn’t want any of the brothers to get married?
She even hoped the three of them would stay single for life?
Why?
:
The more he thought about it, the more unsettling it felt.
Maxwell didn’t even want to think any deeper.
His mind raced with doubt and shock as he drifted back home.
The minute he walked into the villa, he saw Gianna in the living room, getting her birthday dress ready. She looked as sweet and well–behaved as always.
But now, the familiar scene felt weirdly unsettling to Maxwell.
When Gianna saw him come in, she smiled and greeted him like always. “Maxwell, you’re home! Which dress do you think looks best on me? I only trust your taste.”
With his feelings in turmoil, Maxwell forced a smile. “They all look great. Just pick whichever one you like.”
He suddenly didn’t dare meet her eyes, so he hurried off to his room.
Sitting on the bed, Maxwell’s thoughts were still a complete mess.
He thought back to the past, realizing every fight or argument with Patience seemed to be about Gianna.
Maybe he’d misunderstood Patience for bullying her, or something Gianna said always made him take her side.
Every time he and Patience tried to go out together, Gianna would somehow show up and find fault with something.
He’d never thought anything of it before–he just saw it as his sister caring for him.
But now, he wasn’t so sure anymore.
No, he had to stop overthinking this. Maybe Amelia was just manipulating Patience to drive at wedge between him and his family.
The more he thought about it, the more he felt that had to be it. He quickly tried to shake off those unsettling ideas.
“No, I can’t fall for Patience and Amelia’s tricks!
“Gianna is so sweet and innocent. There’s no way she’s like they said!”
Like an ostrich with its head in the sand, he stayed in denial, telling himself Gianna wasn’t like that
