Maxwell, the most hot–headed of the three brothers, didn’t waste a second. He charged straight at Vincent and punched him hard in the face.
Vincent, who had already been slapped a few times by Amelia earlier that day, saw stars again. The pain hit him, and his anger flared up.
“I don’t even know what happened! I swear I think someone drugged me!” he shouted.
And honestly, he wasn’t lying. He really did feel like he’d been drugged. There was no way a few drinks could make him lose control like that.
Worse, he’d had hallucinations–he’d mistaken Gianna for Amelia.
If that hadn’t happened, he would’ve rather died than let things get that far.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. In his mind, he was the real victim–the one who’d been set up.
“You took advantage of Gianna, and now you have the nerve to claim you don’t know what happened?” Maxwell snapped, ready to throw another punch.
Who cared if Vincent was drugged or not? The result was the same–he had violated his sister.
“Hey! Stop it!” Diana shouted, rushing forward to shield her son. “Beating him up won’t fix anything! If you touch him again, I won’t hold back!”
She didn’t even have time to figure out what went wrong or how it started.
All she saw was her precious son being attacked, and that was enough to make her lose it.
The scene quickly turned chaotic. Voices rose, tempers flared, and no one was thinking straight.
“Enough! All of you, stop it!” Marcelo’s cold voice cut through the chaos, “Arguing won’t fix anything. We need to calm down and figure out what to do next,”
His face was tight with frustration, but he held himself together.
Among the three brothers, Marcelo was the most rational and steady.
He knew if they didn’t stop now, the whole thing could blow up and become a public scandal
within minutes.

“Yeah, he’s right,” Diana added quickly. “Keep it down before the guests outside hear. If this gets out, both our families will lose all dignity.”
Everyone knew what that meant. In families like theirs, even a small slip could turn into tomorrow’s headlines.
So they all sat down, tense and silent, trying to think of a solution.
Maxwell finally broke the silence, his voice sharp and cold. “Gianna’s reputation is already ruined. Whether you were drugged or not, you’re taking responsibility. Don’t even think about walking away like some jerk.”
Diana nodded in agreement. “That’s right. What’s done is done. Since things have already gone that far, the only way out now is to make it official. You’ll announce your relationship soon and start planning the engagement.”
Marcelo and Emery thought the only way to save both families‘ reputations and fix the mess right now. They needed to have Vincent get engaged to Gianna.
“Engaged to Gianna? No way. I’m already engaged to Amelia. I can’t just switch like that,” Vincent blurted, ready to refuse.
“Yeah, we were engaged to Amelia. Wouldn’t this look bad?” Marcelo agreed.
Gianna wasn’t a bad match, but compared to Amelia, she came up short in every way.
Most importantly, Amelia owned the Nygard Group’s shares.
What did Gianna have besides favor and attention?
No real power, no real stake. No one stood to gain much.
“I’m sorry. It’s my fault for going into the lounge to look for Vincent,” Gianna said in a whiny voice.
“I don’t need anyone to take responsibility. It’s okay. It’s modern time. We don’t have to follow the old–fashioned tradition.”
Even though she said it wasn’t a big deal, her red, swollen eyes and trembling, tear–choked voice hit her family straight in the heart like blades.
Gianna knew exactly how to play the game of retreat to advance. She did it so smoothly that she could read her brothers and mother like an open book.
How dare that witch look down on her?
Gianna never imagined that after everything she’d done, Vincent would still be thinking about
