Marcelo caught the desperate look Gianna shot him.

“Ladies and gentlemen of the press,” he said calmly, “we’ll take every concern you’ve mentioned seriously and make the necessary improvements.
“As for Gianna’s future in the company, Nygard Group will carefully evaluate and plan her next steps–there’s no need for you to worry about that.”
Since Gianna was now officially under Nygard Entertainment, Marcelo didn’t need Emery’s reminder–he could smooth things over himself.
Still, regret gnawed at him.
If only I hadn’t lost my mind back then—if I hadn’t defied the shareholders and started this damn entertainment company just for Gianna.
That way, I would never have given Amelia the ammunition to mock me or made myself look like a fool in front of the board and investors.
It’s this ridiculous company that has held me back, tarnished my image, and made people question my leadership.
To be exact, Gianna dragged me down. That idiot!
Gianna, unaware of his thoughts, finally relaxed a little when he spoke up for her.
But then, in his usual cold and detached tone, Marcelo continued, “The whole point of this press conference is to publicly show that we sincerely apologize to Ms. Amelia and Ms. White.”
He turned to her. “Gianna, why aren’t you apologizing?”
The icy look in his eyes made her shiver. She knew she ultimately had no choice.
So she nodded meekly, then turned to face Amelia and Selena with a composed, almost gracious expression, as if saying, Fine, since I have to say it anyway, might as well do it with style.
“Ms. White, Amelia, about the lip–sync scandal and the rumors involving Vincent—things weren’t the way people said, and I want to sincerely apologize to both of you here.
“It was my fault for being naïve and careless. I dreamed of becoming a singer and followed the company’s advice without thinking, which led Ms. White to sing on my behalf. I truly am sorry.”
When she finished, she didn’t just toss out an empty apology—she bowed deeply, with perfect

posture, her back straight and head low, every movement deliberate and formal.
The gesture gave the impression that she genuinely felt remorse and was ready to take responsibility.
To be fair, that attitude did soften some casual fans who didn’t know the full story.

It’s fine, she admitted it. People make mistakes. At least she’s being polite and mature about it.]
[Yeah, better than those celebrities who mess up and act entitled afterward. She apologized- that counts for something.]
They figured Gianna had at least owned up to her mistakes, so she should get another shot.
Everyone slips up sometimes. It wasn’t like she did something unforgivable–she deserved a little grace.
But Marcelo saw right through her little act.
If it had been the old him, he probably would’ve been fooled again–convinced that Gianna had been wronged, that she didn’t deserve the backlash.
He would’ve blamed the company, the management, anyone but her.
Now, though, he could see it clearly. This manipulative woman was cleverly implying that she had been too naïve back then, which was why she had followed the company’s orders.
So basically, she was painting herself as the victim, the innocent one who got dragged into it.
Wow. Just wow.
“Just make sure nothing like this happens again,” Selena said.
She wasn’t the confrontational type; since Gianna had apologized and admitted Selena was the real singer, she didn’t want to push things further.
“Thank you, Ms. White. Thank you, Amelia,” Gianna replied sweetly, though she was fuming inside, itching to slap them both.
Amelia smiled faintly. “No need to thank me. And even though I don’t care about Vincent anymore, the fact remains–you got involved with him before our engagement officially ended.”
