Nothing ever seemed to go smoothly around here.

“So, do any of you actually have a solution? Or are you just going to keep talking? I don’t want to hear your chatter. I want answers!”
Raymond’s shout made the entire conference room fall silent. Everyone froze like scolded schoolchildren.
Tch. What a bunch of useless freeloaders.
They could argue and point fingers all day long, but when it came time to actually solve the problem, not one of them could come up with anything.
Even the so–called experts they had spent a fortune hiring last year had proven to be nothing but empty suits. They hadn’t turned things around at all. All they did was hold endless meetings, enjoy five–star perks, and waste money.
Sure, things hadn’t gotten worse, but there had been no real progress either.
What good was that?
Raymond’s face darkened. His fists clenched on the table, veins standing out on his forehead.
“Ms. Amelia has already agreed to come back. I believe she’ll figure something out.”
At that moment, Elian spoke up at just the right time.
His words seemed to spark instant relief in the room. Heads started nodding. One by one, people chimed in.
“If Ms. Amelia has a plan, that would be perfect.”
“She’s brilliant. Every decision she’s made recently has been a success. I’m sure she’ll know what to do.”
“Even if it doesn’t work, at least it’s worth trying. Who knows? She might surprise us.”
Raymond pressed his lips together, frowning deeply. He didn’t say a word. His eyes swept over the group as if he were trying to decide whether any of them truly believed what they were saying.
Sitting beside him, Marcelo felt a twinge of disdain.
He had to admit Amelia was talented. She had built a name for herself in the entertainment

industry, skillfully using the public’s curiosity to stay in the spotlight.

Of course, she had real acting talent and natural beauty, inheriting the best features of both
parents.
In the entertainment world, someone like her was gold. Add actual ability to that, and she became a star everyone wanted to work with.
But what did any of that have to do with cultivating rare herbs, reducing waste, or developing better plants?
Isn’t that like stepping into a whole different world, a leap so big it feels impossible to cross?
The entertainment industry and research had nothing in common, yet these people were acting like she could fix anything.
Especially that nutcase Elian. Did he really think Amelia was some kind of miracle worker?
Could she really do everything?
Marcelo had long suspected that the guy had feelings for Amelia. He clearly liked her.
Even so, this level of blind faith was ridiculous. Did he honestly believe that she knew it all?
“Fine then,” Raymond muttered. “If Amelia’s so smart, let her come back and try. Everyone seems to want her back anyway.”
In the end, Raymond stood up, summarized the meeting, and dismissed everyone.
Marcelo stared at Raymond, still trying to process what he had just heard.
Hadn’t his dad always hated being manipulated by Gianna the same way Mom had been?
Why did he suddenly sound so different now?
“Dad, you’re really letting Amelia come back?”
After the meeting, he caught up to Raymond and followed him into his office.
“Am I the one letting her back?” Raymond raised an eyebrow. “Isn’t that what all the shareholders and executives wanted?”
“Oh.” So it wasn’t Dad having a change of heart. It was just the board finally making a smart
move for once.
“But what’s she even going to do when she comes back? She doesn’t know anything about Nygard Group’s core projects. She’d be better off as a laid–back shareholder. Maybe give her

some easy position with nothing serious to handle.”

Ever since Marcelo had seen through Gianna’s manipulative games, he couldn’t help but think Amelia looked far better by comparison.
