At the same time, she didn’t let her guard down against the Alchemist Guild. There might be at bigger plot behind all this.
The more they took action, the easier it’d be for them to slip up.
What really worried Amelia was if they didn’t make a move. As long as they acted, she was confident she could dig up that woman’s secrets quickly!
“By the way, I wanted to ask–what’s up with Mr. Nygard and Marcelo? That whole crowd ‘welcoming‘ me–they weren’t trying to plant spies, were they?”
Amelia suddenly remembered the big show carlier. It didn’t feel like they were being nice; it felt like they were planning something shady.
“Um, I’m not sure either. Those guys are kinda suck–ups, but they’re not really the Nygards‘ inner circle.”
Even he was confused. Those two guys seemed to genuinely want to be nice to her.
He knew the people who followed Amelia earlier. They weren’t the gossiping or troublemaking
type.
But the group
troublemakers.
that had been trailing Gianna lately, acting like total suck–ups, was the real office
Those people always played both sides and went with the flow.
That’s why Elian couldn’t quite figure out what Raymond and Marcelo were up to.
“Then let’s just wait and see what happens.”
She couldn’t figure out what they were up to, and since they weren’t causing trouble yet, she just ignored them.
If they tried any tricks, she’d handle whatever came her way.
She preferred adapting in the moment and dealing with people as situations developed.
Amelia had just arrived at Nygard Group and hadn’t made any move when Gianna showed up with her usual flashy entrance.
Her personality hadn’t changed at all–loved making a grand entrance. She wasn’t in the entertainment world anymore, but she still craved that star treatment.

Raymond obviously knew about this, so he set up that team to follow her around, making her feel like a VIP wherever she went.
“Ms. Gianna, you’re amazing! You just got here, and already solved one of Nygard Group’s biggest problems.”
“No wonder Mr. Nygard and his sons adore you so much. You really are the pride of the family!”
“Exactly! Mrs. Nygard spoils you like her own daughter. Not everyone’s that lucky!”
Those bootlickers were even more fake and two–faced than the group that greeted Amelia.
You could tell they were the classic corporate schemers–drawn to gossip and always switching sides with the winning side.
If it were Amelia, she wouldn’t believe a single word they said.
But Gianna ate it all up. She thought she was that amazing and that her life was just better than everyone else’s.
“It’s nothing. Helping the company is helping my dad and brothers, so of course, I’ll do my best.
“I’m still new here, so I need all of your guidance.”
Gianna was so used to the fake pleasantries that she could say them in her sleep.
Despite her tarnished past in showbiz, playing the perfect image came naturally to her. Now that she was in a new place, she was doing it again here.
She used to hate the idea of a boring 9–to–5 corporate job, but with so many people fawning over her, she actually didn’t mind it anymore.
Then, she acted like she just noticed Amelia walking by and deliberately followed her into the
break room.
“Amelia! You’re working here, too? I thought you’d stay at your own company,
“But this is great. We can both help Dad’s company now. It’ll be nice working together!”
Empty pleasantries came casily to Gianna.
Amelia normally avoided such insincere talk–it felt pointless.
