“Yeah, I think they’re connected to some kind of organization.” Amelia paused for a moment as she spoke.
The Alchemist Guild. She wasn’t sure if he had ever heard of it. It was difficult to explain such a tangled web of relationships in just a few words.
She herself had certain ties to that organization and even to that hidden laboratory. Yet she didn’t know where to begin explaining all that.
As if reading her thoughts, Jeremy’s deep, magnetic voice came through the phone once again.
“Amelia, stay out of this. It’s dangerous.”
“You know something, don’t you?” Amelia immediately caught the hidden meaning in his tone.
So, he knew about that organization too?
“Yeah. Anyway, it’s dangerous. Whatever you want to look into next, let me handle it, okay?”
“No. There are some things I have to investigate myself,” she refused firmly.
Amelia wanted to personally handle her grandfather’s last wish, the Nygard Group’s affairs, and repay her mentor’s kindness.
“Alright. Then be careful. I’ll come see you in a few days, and we’ll talk more in detail.”
Jeremy sounded helpless. He never really knew what to do with this stubborn girl.
He understood well enough that she couldn’t just sit back and hide behind him, waiting to be protected.
After all, he wasn’t exactly anybody for her. He didn’t even know what role he should take in her life. And more importantly, he knew that there were things she wanted to face on her own.
Now that this involved those people, it was impossible to explain clearly over the phone. And besides, they couldn’t be sure if the line was tapped.
That was why he suggested meeting her in person in a few days.
“Alright, no problem.” Amelia understood his meaning instantly.
They were already on someone’s watch list. For all she knew, they could be under constant surveillance, maybe even being listened to right now.

After the call ended, the calm aura Jeremy usually carried faded, replaced by a sharp and dangerous edge.
Those people–had they started moving again?
Not only me, but Amelia was being watched too now?
Is it because of me that she is being targeted, or had she already been under their eyes all along?
Either way, the result was the same, and it left Jeremy in frustration.

“Jeremy, are those people making moves again? Has Ms. Amelia been dragged into this because of you?”
Anderson, who had been standing beside him in silence, finally spoke up. He knew quite a bit about the situation.
As Jeremy’s childhood friend and one of his most trusted men, Anderson knew when to set aside his usual easygoing attitude.
“I’m not sure.”
“Then do we strike back? Wade’s been getting a bit too cocky lately.”
“Not yet. Let’s hold off for now.”
Of course, Jeremy knew about Wade’s connections with those people.
What he didn’t expect was that Gianna’s backers were so close to Wade.
By the look of it, they were clearly allies.
If this had nothing to do with Amelia, he wouldn’t have cared. He could deal with it however he pleased.
But now, he has a weakness.
“You should still be cautious. Don’t forget about your father.”
It might not have been the right moment, but Anderson couldn’t help warning him to stay alert.
Back in the day, the Currans‘ most powerful leader, Hendrick Curran, was famous worldwide.
He was, without a doubt, the man with the strongest genes and most terrifying potential in the entire Curran lineage.

If Hendrick were still alive, Jeremy might not have been able to surpass him.

Because of that, Hendrick had always been the prime target for the lunatics running that secret
lab.
They wanted to study him–to study his genes, his cells, and his muscle structure.
