Over the next few days, the Nygards showed up at the hospital twice. They only stayed for a few minutes cach time before leaving.
Thea didn’t care anymore. Once she realized what kind of people they truly were, she lost all interest in dealing with them.
Still, she couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
She never imagined her brother would lose his conscience over company shares.
After a week of observation, Thea’s condition stabilized, and she was discharged.
She owned a house in the city,

home to recover.
Her maids took care of her, which made things easier.
Amelia, still worried, visited often to check on her.
Once she was discharged, Thea called her family to tell them what had happened.
Her daughter, Demi Pearson, soon returned from overseas.
Once Thea was settled and cared for, Amelia finally felt relieved.
After the illness, Thea decided she wouldn’t leave the
country again.
She felt that this was still her real home. It was the best place for her to recover.
Demi had just graduated that semester and planned to start working back home so she could stay close to her mother.
Still, one thing puzzled Amelia–Thea’s husband, Bryant Pearson, hadn’t come back.
His wife had been seriously ill, and he doesn’t even visit?
The thought made Amelia frown.
But since Thea didn’t mention it, she chose not to press further.

Jeremy gave a slight nod. His tall figure cast a sharp shadow in the fading sunlight.
Dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, his eyes were cold and focused.
Before he even stepped into the grand hall, a mocking voice echoed through the marble corridor.
“Jeremy’s a fine young man, such a pity though… stuck with that broken body of his. Living must be
torture.”
Jeremy’s uncle, Wade Curran, toyed with a ring on his finger. His ivory suit made him look like a gentleman, but his words cut like a knife.
The room went silent.
“Mr. Wade is right,” another relative muttered carefully. “I heard that no one can cure his condition except the legendary Dr. Ace. But that doctor’s a ghost–no one knows where to find him.”
Another uncle sighed. “Your father made a foolish move, handing the whole Curran Group to a sick man. That’s risking the family’s entire legacy! What if one day … ”
Wade took a slow sip of his tea, the corners of his mouth curling into a faint, cold smile. Wade took a slow sip of his tea, the corners of

Around him, a few elders were talking more and excitedly, every word dripping with mockery and disdain for Jeremy.
“But I heard that Dr. Ace showed up a few days ago,” one of them said. “Performed a surgery that amazed everyone. Maybe there’s still hope.”
“If that’s true,” Wade said with a fake tone of concern, “I’ll have someone find this Dr. Ace and let him treat Jeremy.”
“Mr. Wade, you’re too kind,” another chimed in. “Mr. Jeremy’s just making a dying effort anyway.”
“Yeah, if you ask me, it’d be better if he just-”
The chatter stopped dead.
Jeremy walked steadily into the hall, his sharp, handsome face showing no emotion.
His piercing gaze swept over every person present.
A cold voice broke the silence. “Seems like everyone here is very concerned about my health?”
Wade’s teacup trembled slightly before he regained his calm. “Jeremy, you’re home. We were just worried you’ve been overworking yourself. You should really take care of your body. If something happens to you, things would get tricky.”
Jeremy’s lips twitched in a faint smirk.
He coughed a few times, pressing his fingers lightly against his chest. His face looked pale. “Uncle Wade’s right,” he said dryly. “My body isn’t what it used to be.”
A flash of pride passed through Wade’s eyes, though he kept his tone gentle. “Jeremy, do you want me to
