Wade let out a cold laugh. “I’ve already sent someone to dig up Dr. Ace background.”

She made a subtle hand gesture–her meaning was obvious.

Wade nodded, his eyes dark and dangerous. “Of course. I’m not giving Jeremy the chance to win. I’ll have someone watch him and check if anyone suspicious shows up around him.”

He thought that once his eldest brother passed, Curran Group would naturally become his. But his father had gone and named Jeremy the heir instead.

All his hard work was paving the way for Jeremy.

How could he accept that?

Wade had used every dirty trick he could. He went as far as poisoning Jeremy. He thought he had already won. But then Dr. Ace appeared out of nowhere.

Anyone who stood in his way had to die..

Amelia sneezed at home. Who’s gossiping about me behind my back? she wondered.

Just then, her phone buzzed. It was a message from Josie.

“Amelia, I got two tickets to JK’s concert this weekend! Let’s go together, okay?”

Those tickets had cost Josie a fortune to get.

Amelia thought for a second. She didn’t really have anything planned, so she texted back, “Sure.”

She might’ve been considered someone in the entertainment industry, but truthfully, she only knew a few celebrities–the ones she met during that reality show. Other than that, she wasn’t familiar with anyone

else.

But JK–she’d definitely heard of him. He was the hottest star of the year, the one everyone was talking about.

Getting a ticket to his concert was nearly impossible. Still, she figured there was no harm in going just to see what the hype was about.

If only she knew what kind of awkward situation she’d walk into, she’d never have agreed to go.

That weekend, Josie finally had a day off. The two decided to meet early, go shopping, grab some food, and then head to the concert.

Since the reality show aired, Amelia’s popularity had exploded.

Fans were filling the comment section every day, begging her to accept a new project.

Amelia arrived earlier than planned. She decided to browse around the mall while waiting for Josie.

Suddenly, a tall man wearing sunglasses walked straight toward her. Before she could react, he grabbed her wrist and said in a low voice, “Don’t make a sound. Come with me.”

Startled, Amelia tried to pull away, but his grip was too strong. He dragged her forcefully into a nearby emergency exit:

“Who are you? Let go of me!” she hissed, her voice sharp but quiet. She would rather not attract attention.

After all, she had gained some fame now.

The man took off his sunglasses, revealing a handsome face with a hint of coldness–he was JK himself!

Amelia froze. “Y–you’re JK?”

JK nodded slightly, then said in a low voice, “Sorry, it’s an emergency. I need your help.”

Amelia blinked, confused. “Help with what?”

“I’m being followed by paparazzi,” he said quickly. “I need a cover to shake them off.”

He had come out early to relax before the concert, but a few paparazzi had spotted him and chased him all the way here. It had completely ruined his mood.

Only now did Amelia notice that he looked uneasy; sweat was forming on his forehead.

She frowned. “But we don’t even know each other.”

“I know who you are,” JK interrupted, locking eyes with her. “Amelia, I’ve watched your reality show. Just take it as me owing you one.”

Amelia stared at him in disbelief. Her mask must have slipped off somewhere along the way; that’s how he recognized her.

But JK was one of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry, yet he watched her show?

That was unbelievable.

Before she could say anything, hurried footsteps sounded from the hallway outside. “He went this way! If we catch him, we’re getting a big payday!” one of the paparazzi shouted.

JK’s eyes darkened. In the next second, he reached out, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her close. Amelia stumbled and crashed into his chest. A crisp cedar scent filled her nose.
