Amelia and Gianna were neck and neck.
The two riders matched each other’s pace so closely that the crowd held its breath.

Amelia’s horse suddenly let out a loud, sharp neigh and rose on its hind legs, as if startled by something!
The violent jolt threw Amelia sideways, leaving her hanging off the saddle.
Jeremy’s heart nearly stopped. He shot up from his seat, ready to rush onto the field.
What’s going on?
Why did the horse go wild all of a sudden?
Amelia’s body swung dangerously close to the ground, her foot barely hooked in the stirrup.
Anderson was panicking too.
He loved horses, but his riding skills were terrible.
Among all of them, Jeremy was the best rider. He even won an international championship before.
“Jeremy! Do something! She’s going to get hurt!” Anderson shouted anxiously.
Just then, at the very last second, Amelia twisted her waist and made a powerful move. Using the rhythm of Ember’s stride, she spun her body in a graceful arc and landed back in the saddle!
Jeremy was shocked. His eyes flickered.
He had nearly broken out in sweat.
Amelia moved fast–using momentum to steady herself, she wrapped her arms around the horse’s neck.
“It’s okay, easy now,” she whispered softly, stroking behind Ember’s ear. Miraculously, the horse calmed down. But those bloodshot eyes still showed a trace of pain.

Amelia’s sharp gaze swept over the track. Then she saw it–scattered nails glinting in the sand.
“So that’s it,” she muttered, her face hardening.
She’d seen Gianna throw something earlier. It must’ve been the nails.
There was no way a clean, professional course would have that kind of debris.
That meant Gianna had tossed them herself.
But the race wasn’t over yet. She’d deal with Gianna later.
Amelia bit her pale lip and urged Ember forward. “Go!” she commanded.
Her hair danced fiercely behind her as Ember picked up speed.
The whole field seemed to open up before them. Ember quieted completely and ran harder, faster, and stronger.
Gianna saw Amelia charging ahead and nearly exploded with rage.
Her eyes flashed with something wicked. She cracked her whip hard against Nightshade’s flank. “Catch her!” she yelled.
Nightshade screamed in pain and bolted wildly.
As they reached the final turn, Gianna suddenly pulled the reins tight and bumped right into Amelia!
“Watch out, Amelia!” she shouted, pretending to warn her, but her hands were locked tight, steering Nightshade into a collision.
The crowd gasped in horror.
Amelia had seen it coming. At the crucial moment, she loosened her reins and swung her body sideways, hanging skillfully off Ember’s flank. The horse dodged the collision with stunning agility. Gianna’s horse lost control and slammed hard into the fence.
“Arghhh!” Gianna screamed as she was thrown off the saddle, landing straight into a muddy pit.
Her riding jacket tore open, and her perfectly styled curls were plastered to her face. The mud smeared across her skin. She looked drenched, muddy, and miserable.
Amelia pulled the reins, bringing Ember to a stop right at the edge of the pit. From above, she looked down coldly. “Gianna, that’s your riding skill? Impressive. Truly eye–opening.”
Then, without another glance, Amelia urged Ember forward and crossed the finish line in one

smooth motion.
The result was obvious. Amelia had won.
Gianna’s face turned dark with rage.
Damn it!
I was so close.
Covered in mud, she struggled to her feet and stomped toward the finish line.
Her eyes burned with hate. “Y–you cheated!”

“Cheated?” Amelia’s voice dripped with mockery. “Should I have the staff pull the security footage to see who spread those nails on the track?”
The crowd erupted in gasps.
Vincent rushed over, his face ashen with rage. “Gianna, what on earth—
“Vincent, it wasn’t me!” Gianna grabbed his sleeve in panic, her voice trembling. “It was Amelia! She framed me! That’s why my horse went wild!”
