Papers scattered across the floor. Demi bent down and picked one up. Her eyes widened. “This is… Dad, you mortgaged all of Mom’s houses without telling her?”

Bryant’s face twisted. He pointed at Demi and yelled, “Shut up! If your mother had given me a son, would I need to do this? The Pearson family can’t end without an heir!”

Amelia’s eyes turned cold. She raised her hand and slapped him hard.

The sound cracked through the room.

Bryant stumbled back, clutching his cheek in shock. “How dare you hit me?”

Amelia sneered. “Yes, I hit you. That was for Aunt Thea. All these years you lived off her, spent her money, and now you bring in a mistress to push her out? Bryant, did you really think she had no one to stand up for her?”

Thea had given him everything.

Was this what her life had come to? Amelia’s fury boiled. It was a bitter pill she refused to swallow.

She stepped closer, her presence hung heavy, like a stormcloud. “You’d better agree to my terms. Or things will get worse for you.”

Bryant’s face turned dark. His jaw clenched. “Amelia, this has nothing to do with you. Let Thea talk to me.”

Amelia scoffed. “You want to make Aunt Thea so upset she dies, then take her money? Dream

on.”

Just then, the door swung open. Jeremy walked in with two lawyers, holding a thick stack of

papers.

“Mr. Pearson, here’s the revised divorce agreement. Take a look.” His voice was flat as he handed

it over.

Before Amelia even came here, she had already asked Jeremy for help.

With his support, she felt more confident than ever, and she wasn’t worried about Bryant refusing to give in.

She still had plenty of moves left to play.

Bryant’s hands trembled as he flipped through the papers. The further he read, the more his

The agreement stripped away almost everything he had gained from Thea over the years.

“No… no, this isn’t possible!” He slammed the papers shut, shouting, “I won’t sign!”

Amelia smiled faintly. She reached into her bag and pulled out a folder, shaking it lightly. “Then what about this? Still sure you won’t sign?”

Bryant’s eyes locked on the folder. Sweat poured down his face. “What’s in there?”

“The proof of your embezzlement over the years is enough to land you in prison for ten.” Amelia’s tone was almost casual, but every word cut deep.

“Oh, and records of the assets you hid away. Plus-” she glanced at the mistress, “the villa and the sports car you bought for her. All paid with marital assets.”

Bryant felt like lightning had struck him.

Cold sweat drenched his back.

That was impossible! How could they have uncovered something so well hidden?

He had covered his tracks perfectly. No one could have found a trace.

It had to be Amelia bluffing.

Panicked, he tore open the folder. When he saw the evidence, his face went gray. He was finished.

The mistress gasped. “Darling! You told me it was your money!”

“Shut up!” Bryant barked.

He turned back to Amelia, eyes full of despair. “What do you want?”

“Sign. Before I change my mind,” Amelia said coldly.

Bryant’s hand shook as he picked up the pen. He scrawled his name on the agreement.

Amelia gathered the papers, satisfied. She turned to Demi and softened her tone. “Come on, Demi. Let’s go home.”

Demi’s eyes shone red as she nodded.

Before leaving, she glanced back at her half–brother. Her feelings tangled in silence.

Outside, Amelia took a long breath and squeezed Demi’s hand. “Don’t worry. From now on, no one will hurt Aunt Thea or you again.”

Demi broke down at last, crying into her arms.

Inside the hotel room, Bryant collapsed onto the floor, face ashen.

The mistress grabbed the child and snapped coldly, “Liar!”

Then she stormed out, slamming the door.

At the end of the hall, Jeremy leaned against the wall. Watching Amelia’s back, he smiled faintly.
