Chapter 72 Ursula’s Arrival
From now on, Thea would stay here.
With Amelia and Demi around, she felt at ease.
As the saying goes, good news travels slowly, but bad news spreads like wildfire.
The family caught wind of what had happened fast.

When Raymond heard Amelia had shown up with people and tried to force Bryant into a divorce, he went livid.
“That brat! What can’t she do? Knowing Thea is sick and needs care, and she ruins Thea’s marriage–outrageous.”
Marcelo added fuel to the fire. “Dad, Amelia’s way out of line. How dare she meddle in Aunt Thea’s marriage–she’s just a kid, she shouldn’t be sticking her nose in.”
“Exactly,” Gianna chimed in with fake sweetness. “This is ridiculous. I heard she even dragged an outsider into the scene and gave Bryant a good beating, causing his face to swell up. If word gets out, people will think the Nygards have no class.”
Maxwell snorted. “Hmph. If Grandma finds out, she’ll give her a proper scolding.”
Gianna’s lips curled into a pleased smile.
Right–when Grandma hears about this, Amelia will be the one to pay.
That day couldn’t come soon enough.
Emery hurriedly spoke up. “Yes–almost forgot–this is important. Grandma’s coming back the day after tomorrow. Watch what you say. She doesn’t know about half the mess that’s been going on.”
“Don’t worry, Mom. We won’t let Grandma find out,” Gianna said sweetly.
Ursula had been ill and spent most of her time up in the hills, fasting and praying.
She was cared for by the old housekeeper, Laurel, and rarely came down.
This return was for her birthday–her 80th–and they planned to celebrate properly.
Raymond had called and invited her to come live downstairs for a while.
Because Grandma was old, they’d kept most problems from her.

Now that she was coming back, they’d better keep it that way.
“What if Amelia goes and tells Grandma herself?” Maxwell said, his voice low and dangerous. “If she says something to Grandma—”
Raymond snorted. “She wouldn’t dare. Grandma cares most about the family’s reputation. If she knew Amelia had caused this trouble, she wouldn’t spare her.”
Gianna cooed soothingly. “Don’t worry, Dad. Grandma loves me–I’ll make sure she stays happy.”
Marcelo scoffed. “Right. With Gianna fussing over her, Grandma won’t bother with that wild child.”
Miguel backed him up. “Exactly–Grandma hates people who don’t know their place. Amelia’s temperament would never sit well with her.”
“Do you think you can fool Grandma that easily? She’s been through the business world for decades–she’s seen every trick. Behave yourselves.”
Then, he turned to Marcelo. “Call Thea and that brat Amelia. Tell them Grandma’s coming.”
Old folks always want the family to look united.
Even if Amelia had cut ties with the family, they’d still put on a show for Grandma.
“Don’t worry, Dad. I’ll tell them,” Marcelo said, nodding.
That evening, both Thea and Amelia learned Grandma was returning.
Amelia’s lips tightened; she knew the old woman had never been warm toward her–especially over the shares.
After all, there were plenty of legitimate sons and grandsons in the family, yet Conrad had left the stock to Amelia.
Ursula had resented that.
But it was Conrad’s will, and there was nothing she could do about it.
She always greeted Amelia with a cold expression; her words and looks always dripped with displeasure.
Amelia knew full well that Ursula’s return probably wouldn’t carn her any kindness.
But she didn’t care.
