“I know,” Trent said. “That’s why I’m doing this for our son. Suzanne only gave me two daughters. She couldn’t even give me an heir. I’ve wanted out for a long time. The only reason I stuck around was because her family helped my business back in the day. But now? They’re not even doing as well as I am. They’re useless to me. All she does is spend my money. She can’t offer me anything. Divorce is only a matter of time.”
Hearing that, Yulia finally relaxed.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
She quickly stepped out of his arms and smoothed her hair and clothes.
“Come in,” Trent called out.
The housekeeping manager entered, looking flustered. “Sir, a VIP guest wants to see you!”
VIP clients were the lifeblood of the hotel–especially now, during a crisis. Trent couldn’t afford to offend one.
He nodded. “Alright. I’ll meet him.”
Estella and Jonathan didn’t wait long–just over ten minutes–before Trent arrived.
When Trent saw Estella, his eyes widened.
He and his wife had seen pictures of her before. He recognized her instantly.
A mix of awkwardness and anger flickered across his face,
She must have faked her way in by pretending to be a VIP.
He turned a hard stare on the housekeeping manager. “How did this happen? Is she really one of our VIPS?
The manager quickly explained, “This lady isn’t, but the gentleman with her is.”
Trent turned toward Jonathan–and froze in shock.
There wasn’t a single person in the Javerton business world who didn’t know Jonathan.
CEO of Luminary Partners & Co., a living legend in corporate law, undefeated in court.

Trent hadn’t expected any connection between him and Estella. Now he didn’t know how to
react
Jonathan smiled at him, though there was no warmth in it. “I heard Mr. Trent was cheating with my girlfriend, so I thought I’d come clear things up in person.”
Trent’s body went rigid.
Impossible.
Ms. Wendy had said Estella was single–no family, no backing.
She was Jonathan’s girlfriend?
The news hit him like a bolt of lightning, striking deep.
His mind raced in panic. This was bad–very bad.
Jonathan was known for being ruthless and vindictive when crossed. There was no way he’d let this go.
And with his reach in Javerton, no one dared offend him.
Trent knew he was way out of his league.
Regret overwhelmed him. If he’d known Estella’s true identity, he never would’ve agreed to help Ms. Wendy frame her.
But now, it was too late.
He had just made a powerful enemy. His hotel might not survive this.
Jonathan, meanwhile, stood there perfectly calm.
Arms crossed, chin tilted slightly, he looked at Trent with a mocking smirk. “Why so quiet, Mr. Trent? I’m still waiting for your explanation”
Trent scrambled for a way out.
He’d just throw his wife under the bus–it was her plan anyway.
“This.. this was all my wife’s doing,” he said quickly. “I had no idea what was going on! She’s always been paranoid and jealous. She made up those accusations about Ms. Estella being my mistress and dragged my name through the mud too. Mr. Jonathan, I’m a victim here. If you’re angry, feel free to sue her. I swear I won’t stand in your way.”
“Oh? In that case, why don’t you call her over?” Jonathan said lightly.
