Suzanne couldn’t understand why her husband had suddenly caved. This wasn’t part of their plan at all.
But then it occurred to her: of course he wouldn’t admit anything with so many people watching.
She stormed forward, aiming a slap right at Estella’s face.
“You dare come here again? Trying to tear my family apart? I’ll kill you, you shameless vixen!”
But Jonathan was faster. He caught Suzanne’s wrist mid–swing, his gaze ice–cold.
“Ms. Suzanne,” he said coolly, “you’ve slandered my girlfriend. I’m formally filing a lawsuit.”
Suzanne froze–she hadn’t expected Estella to have a boyfriend, let alone one who’d come charging in to defend her. She didn’t recognize Jonathan and didn’t take him seriously.
“Your girlfriend’s a homewrecker and you’re not breaking up with her? You’re actually helping her sue me? You really enjoy being cheated on, don’t you?”
Jonathan let out a cold laugh. “I know better than anyone whether my girlfriend is a homewrecker. You think she’d throw me aside to chase after your husband? Your husband? Seriously?”
Anyone with eyes could see that Jonathan was far more attractive and composed than Trent. If Estella left him for Trent, she’d have to be out of her mind.
Suzanne refused to back down. “My husband makes good money. It’s only natural she’d want to cling to someone rich.”
Trent, thoroughly embarrassed, finally spoke. “Mr. Jonathan is the most renowned attorney in Javerton. He owns Luminary Partners & Co…”
In other words–Jonathan wasn’t exactly hurting for cash.
Suzanne hadn’t realized Estella had such a powerful man behind her.
Still, for the sake of her husband’s hotel and her own comfortable life, she kept up the act, teeth gritted.
“So what? She’s still a homewrecker! She throws herself at men left and right. I’ll ruin her if it’s the last thing I do!”
Jonathan’s patience had run dry.

He pointed behind Trent, right at Yulia. “Estella’s definitely not your husband’s mistress–but that woman right there? She almost certainly is.”
Trent’s face drained of color.
Yulia swallowed hard, suddenly nervous.
Suzanne scoffed, “You’re just trying to pin it on someone else to protect your girlfriend. Please. Yulia is my college classmate. I recommended her for this job! She’s been my eyes and ears in this hotel. How could she possibly be cheating with my husband?”
That was exactly why she’d always trusted Yulia–never felt the need to watch her husband closely.
“Is that so?”
Jonathan gestured to the bracelet on Yulia’s wrist. “That bracelet–one of my former clients wore the exact same one. It’s from a well–known overseas designer. Market value: five million. Her earrings? Another international designer. They go for about a million. Tell me, how much does a lobby manager make these days?”
That client had been a notorious show–off who spent half an hour flaunting her jewelry before they even got to the legal details. If it weren’t for the high commission, Jonathan would’ve walked out.
Suzanne’s gaze shot straight to Yulia.
She remembered–Yulia’s family was middle–class at best, and she’d always claimed to be single. Suzanne had never once heard her mention dating a wealthy man.
She had noticed lately that Yulia’s fashion sense had become strangely refined.
But Yulia had always brushed it off, saying her accessories were high–end replicas.
Apparently not.
Everything she wore was the real deal.
And the only rich man around her… was Suzanne’s own husband.
She thought back to all the times she’d found Trent “talking business” with Yulia.
A lobby manager had that much business to discuss?
She’d never taken Yulia seriously before. Yulia wasn’t young or flashy. She’d assumed Trent would never go for her.
