Mr. Lewis sneered as he glanced at Jonathan. “I don’t pour drinks for just anyone. You don’t deserve that kind of respect.”
Jonathan chuckled. “Wow. So the great Mr. Lewis thinks I’m beneath his toast?”
Mr. Lewis, who had always despised handsome men with confidence, snapped. “This is a private dinner for the production team. No one said you could bring guests. Get out! As for you, Estella–if you want to stay, drink those three shots. Otherwise, pack your things and leave!”
He was sure Estella would cave and drink to stay in the game.
But instead, Estella’s face turned frosty. “In that case, I’ll leave.”
She’d already realized she was never going to be treated fairly here. No matter how hard she worked, her camera time would get cut, and she’d be set up to fail.
So what was the point?
She turned with Jonathan, ready to go–but Mr. Lewis wasn’t about to let her walk away.
“What, think you can just walk out on me? Got a big attitude now, huh?”
Mr. Lewis’s uncle was an executive at the station, and he ran several high–rating shows himself. People usually treated him with respect, which only fed his sense of entitlement.
Standing up, he exploded. “You think you’re something special? Without me, you wouldn’t have even made it on the show! Ungrateful little tramp!”
He turned to his assistants. “Hold her down and pour the damn drinks!”
The two assistants hesitated–he was clearly drunk.
But Mr. Lewis kicked one of them in a rage. “What, you can’t follow a simple order? Want to lose your job?”
Jobs were hard to come by. The assistants, scared to offend him, stepped forward to grab Estella.
Before they could even touch her, Jonathan seized one of their wrists in a tight grip.
His voice was icy. “Estella came here to compete–not to be forced into drinking games. Mr. Lewis, do your superiors know how you act when they’re not looking?”
Mr. Lewis’s face turned purple. “You arrogant little punk! I’ll make sure you never work in this town. again!”
Just as he was gearing up to throw around his influence, a group of sharply dressed men entered the room.
At the head was Sean–the station’s deputy director.
Sean had come with a few staff members hoping to “bump into” Jonathan. He’d seen Jonathan post on

social media carlier that he’d be here for dinner.
Hoping to build a relationship, Sean had shown up with the excuse of checking in on the show and greeting Mr. Lewis–only to walk in on a disaster.
The moment he saw Mr. Lewis screaming at Jonathan, his expression turned dark.
Even the station director had treated Jonathan with respect earlier. Was Mr. Lewis out of his mind?

Mr. Lewis, seeing Sean, immediately switched to a fawning grin. “Sean! What a surprise to see you here!”
Sean didn’t respond. His glare could’ve frozen fire.
Mr. Lewis sobered up in an instant.
Why was Sean so angry?
What had he done wrong?
In the next moment, under the stunned gazes of everyone present, Sean’s face transformed into a polite, sunny smile.
“Mr. Jonathan,” he said warmly, “fancy seeing you here.”
Jonathan’s tone was cool. “Just came to have dinner with a friend. But Mr. Lewis here didn’t seem too pleased. Tried to force her to drink. Got me wondering if there’s a management issue at Javerton TV. Care to explain?”
Sean shot Mr. Lewis a withering glare, then smiled at Jonathan again. “It’s just a misunderstanding. I’ll make sure they’re properly educated. If you haven’t eaten yet, please join me–my treat.”
Jonathan’s eyes held a glint of frost. “No thanks. I’d rather take my friend elsewhere. I wouldn’t dare sit at a table with Mr. Lewis. Who knows–could be a trap.”
With that, he turned and walked off, Estella by his side.
The assistants shrank back, not daring to stop them.
Sean gave Mr. Lewis one last icy glance before following Jonathan out.
Mr. Lewis suddenly felt cold all over.
