Chapter 135 Uninvited
Finished
About fifteen minutes passed before a server entered the private room pushing a cart. On it sat a beautiful three–tier cake and a bouquet of roses.
“What’s this?” Estella asked, frowning.
The server smiled politely. “Someone asked me to deliver this. I’ll just leave the cake and flowers here.
Estella looked at the cake and bouquet and felt a chill creep up her spine. She stood up, ready to leave.
That’s when the door opened.
Nathaniel walked in.
Dressed in a sharp suit and wearing a faint, familiar smile, he looked exactly like the man Estella once thought she knew.
“Estella,” he said smoothly, “I heard you placed third in the competition. Congratulations.”
Estella hadn’t seen him in a while–she’d thought he had finally let her go.
Apparently not.
Her face tightened. “What are you doing here?”
Nathaniel smiled, as if it were all perfectly natural. “I made a small sponsorship donation to Javerton TV. Your popularity surge during the later rounds? That was me. I spent quite a bit to boost your votes. Why? Just to have one dinner with you. The station execs were happy to oblige. You won’t refuse me, right?”
Estella froze.
Suddenly, everything made sense.
The spike in her ranking, the unexpected fan votes…
It hadn’t been organic. It was Nathaniel.
She sighed, almost wearily. “I didn’t ask for your help. And I won’t be having dinner tonight.”
“Estella.”
Nathaniel blocked her path, his dark eyes locking onto hers. “Don’t be nervous. I won’t touch you. I just wanted one peaceful meal.”
Estella’s tone was ice. “And if I don’t want to eat?”
He stepped aside, hands raised. “If you want to leave, I won’t stop you. You once said I didn’t respect you— I want to change that.
But don’t think I’m giving up. I, Nathaniel, will only ever love one woman in this life, and that’s you. I’m going to win you back. You can reject me all you want–but I’m not going anywhere.”

Estella clenched her fists, scowled, and snapped, “You’re unbelievable.”
Then she turned and walked out.
Finished-
After the competition, Estella realized she hadn’t seen her mother in a while, so she went to the hospital.
Victoria wasn’t asleep. She was in the hallway, chatting proudly with another patient.
“See that Javerton TV show? My daughter placed third! She’s always been independent, never caused me a moment of worry.”
The woman next to her beamed. “You’ve raised such a wonderful daughter–you’ll be living the good life soon!”
Estella walked up, amused. “Mom.”
Victoria turned, delighted. “Why are you here so late? You’ve been working too hard, you’ve lost weight!”
Estella gave her a hug. “You’re still up this late?”
Victoria replied lightly, “Old people don’t sleep as well. Besides, you’re here–I wanted to talk to you.”
Estella helped her back into the private room.
Once they were settled, Victoria smiled. “You’ve met a new boy lately, haven’t you? His name’s Winson, right?”
“Winson?” Estella blinked. “How do you know him? Did he come here too?”
Victoria nodded. “He came by once with Selene. Since then, he stops by every few days. I think he’s a good
one.”
Estella pinched the bridge of her nose. “Mom, I’m not even close with him. Don’t treat him like he’s family.”
She knew Winson had feelings for her–but she didn’t reciprocate, and she didn’t want to give him hope.
Victoria frowned. “What’s wrong with him? If you don’t want to remarry Nathaniel, fine, I’m okay with that. But that lawyer you were seeing–I don’t like him.
