The Invisible Wife Turned Savage novel Chapter 139

Chapter 139 Business or Burden

It was obvious at a glance-this “corporate partnership” was just Winson’s excuse to hand Estella a business opportunity on a silver platter.

But Winson shrugged off the implication. “It’s nothing! Happy employees work harder. This is a win-win.”

Estella raised an eyebrow. “Your company doesn’t do overtime?”

In today’s corporate world, the idea of people having time after work for hobbies felt more like a fantasy.

Winson explained, “Most of our projects are tied to government contracts. Our schedule follows theirs-standard hours in, standard hours out.”

“That explains it,” Estella mused. “I’ll talk it over with Selene.”

“Great.”

Estella messaged Selene on WhatsApp, laying out the situation.

Selene replied instantly:

“Of course you should take it! This kind of deal just falling into our laps? We’d be stupid not to!”

Estella hesitated, then sent another message:

“But doesn’t this mean I owe Winson a favor?”

Selene shot back:

“Business is business. They pay, we provide a service. It’s a clear transaction-not charity. If it makes you feel better, just treat him to a meal. He’ll probably love that.”

Estella mulled it over, then nodded to herself. Selene had a point. Right now, growing the business came first.

Turning to Winson, she said, “I spoke to Selene. We’ll take the contract. Thanks for bringing us the opportunity. Let me treat you to lunch.”

“No more ‘Mr. Winson’-that’s way too formal. Just call me Winson. After lunch, let’s head to your office and iron out the contract details.”

He was clearly thrilled. It gave him more time alone with Estella, which was just what he wanted.

They headed to a French restaurant.

Estella glanced at the menu. The dishes were expensive, but nothing she couldn’t afford now. Considering Winson brought them business, treating him was fair.

As they were ordering, a figure quietly slipped into the restaurant and discreetly pulled out his phone.

He sent a message to Nathaniel:

“Sir, Ms. Estella is having lunch with Winson again. Sending the location now.”

The man was Nathaniel’s private investigator-stationed specifically to track who Estella spent time with, especially if it involved potential romantic interests.

Nathaniel’s face darkened as he read the

message.

He picked up the phone and made another call.

“Did you find Winson’s ex-girlfriend?”

The voice on the other end responded quickly, “Yes, sir. She’s already been checked into a hotel in Javerton.”

Winson’s ex, Britney, had a complicated history. After they broke up, she found out she was pregnant. She hadn’t gotten rid of the baby but waited until she was eight months along before showing up at the Shane estate, hoping to use the child to gain status.

Winson wasn’t there at the time-Miranda was.

And Miranda was ruthless.

Instead of being manipulated, she turned the tables: Britney was locked up, and after the child was born, Miranda took the baby away to be raised in one of her private villas with a nanny. She also handed Britney a payout and ordered her to leave Javerton.

Britney refused to back down and demanded her child.

So Miranda had her forcibly removed from the city and arranged for her to be beaten if she

ever came back.

But Nathaniel knew Britney hadn’t given up on her dream of marrying into the Shane family.

And with her now in Javerton again, he had plans.

“She’s ready?” Nathaniel asked coldly.

“Yes, sir.”

“Then send her to find Winson. Now.”
