Estella had heard Nathaniel’s wounded pleas too many times. At this point, they fell flat on her

ears.

Without even looking back, she walked straight into the building.

Nathaniel didn’t chase after her. He only stood there, watching her figure disappear, his eyes full of regret and loneliness.

If he could go back in time, he’d never have hurt her.

But it was too late for that now.

Back in the office, Selene bounced over, eyes gleaming with gossip. “So, lunch with Winson? Are you finally considering giving him a chance?”

Estella didn’t even look up from the file in her hand. “Not really. But he doesn’t seem to understand a clear rejection. It’s giving me a headache.”

Selene cupped Estella’s cheek with a teasing smile. “With a face like yours, it’s no wonder every guy loses his mind. Honestly, your ex-husband must be kicking himself right now.”

The mention of her ex made Estella wince.

Nathaniel’s behavior lately was baffling. He’d been entangled with Isabelle all throughout their marriage, but now that they were finally apart, he suddenly wouldn’t leave her alone.

Men really were inexplicable creatures.

Shaking off the thoughts, Estella turned her attention back to work.

Selene took on a more serious tone. “The center’s got no shortage of students lately, but we’re seriously short on teachers. Campus recruitment is coming up, and I can’t leave right now. Think you can handle it?”

Estella nodded. “I’ll take care of it.”

That was all Selene needed to hear. She trusted Estella completely.

Then, with a wicked glint in her eye, she added, “All our teachers are women-single women, I might add. Maybe you could hire a couple of good-looking guys. Could help solve some of our team’s ‘personal’ issues.”

Estella raised an eyebrow. “You want eye candy?”

After the chaos caused by Nathaniel and Winson, she was seriously leaning toward hiring only women to avoid any further trouble.

Selene nodded with conviction. “You’d be surprised. I visited a few other art centers recently- some of them hired attractive male teachers just to attract more female clients. Worked like a charm. We should try it too!”

Estella sighed. “Fine, for the sake of business.”

Her first stop was the Javerton Music Academy.

With a tough job market and a sea of graduates, even their small, newly established art center saw plenty of interest. People lined up to hand in résumés.

Estella and another female teacher stayed busy all afternoon and didn’t finish until late.

Just as they were about to pack up and grab dinner, a sleek Bentley pulled up at the gate.

Out stepped a sharply dressed Winson.

Gone was his usual spoiled, carefree demeanor-today, he looked every bit the serious professional.

“Winson?”

Estella blinked, surprised.

He strode over with a charming smile and took the recruitment materials from their hands. “Long day, huh? Let me treat you two to dinner.”

Estella opened her mouth to decline, but before she could say anything, the other teacher gave her a sly little push into the car.

Inside, Estella turned to him, her voice calm. “How did you know I was here?”

Winson grinned. “We were recruiting next door at the engineering university. I spotted you earlier and decided to wait until you wrapped up.”

Sensing she might take it the wrong way, he quickly added, “I’m working seriously now. I’ve taken on the role of VP at my father’s company. I’m going to prove myself—show you I’ve changed.”

The other teacher, ever the wingwoman, chimed in cheerfully, “You two have dinner. I’ll head
