Chapter 59 Revelation and Resentment

The doctor thought, I really shouldn’t have been so greedy and accepted that money.

“It was Mr. Hartwell who told me to do this,” the doctor admitted.

Hearing that it was Nathaniel, Estella couldn’t help but grit her teeth.

It was him, just as I had suspected. I had my doubts before, but without evidence, I hadn’t been sure.

Estella removed Nathaniel from her blacklist and called him.

Nathaniel had been worried sick when she suddenly transferred hospitals.

Seeing her call, he was instantly relieved and delighted.

“Estella, where have you been? I’ve been so worried about you,” he said.

Estella’s voice was as cold as ice.

“Nathaniel, let’s meet and talk,” she said.

“Alright,” Nathaniel quickly agreed.

They arranged to meet at a café near the hospital.

Nathaniel arrived soon after. Seeing the bandages on Estella’s hand, he felt both heartbroken and anxious. “Why did you run around after getting hurt like this? Aren’t you afraid your wound will get worse?” he asked.

Estella looked at him coldly and asked, “Did you bribe my previous attending physician to tell me that my hand couldn’t recover?”

Seeing that the truth was out, Nathaniel admitted it without hesitation.

“Yes, it was me.”

“Why?” she asked, not understanding why he would do such a thing.

Nathaniel gritted his teeth. “I did it for your own good.”

“For my own good?” she said, her voice trembling with anger. “Do you have any idea how much I cried after hearing the doctor’s diagnosis? Do you know how desperate I felt? Nathaniel Hartwell, what right do you have to alter my medical diagnosis?”

Seeing her anger, Nathaniel was initially a bit guilty. But thinking that she had been hurt

You know very well that this job of yours only brings harm and no benefits. There are so many wolves around you. Can you guarantee that you won’t get hurt again in the future? I was just pushing you a bit, forcing you to give up this worthless job and come back to me,” he explained.

Estella’s face turned red with anger.

“Nathaniel, have you ever respected me? You never care about what I want; you only care about yourself! The way you force me to come back is by breaking my wings over and over again, making me your accessory. You’re despicable,” she accused.

Nathaniel gritted his teeth. “What’s so bad about being my accessory? So many people want to be Mrs. Hartwell, so many people envy you. Do you know that? I can support you; I don’t want you to work yourself to death. Am I wrong? You don’t appreciate what you have; you’re simply unreasonable!”

Estella sneered. “Please, Mr. Hartwell, keep this kind of ‘blessing’ for someone else.”

Without any hesitation, Estella got up and left.

Nathaniel angrily tugged at his tie.

I couldn’t understand what Estella was so stubborn about. What was so bad about coming back to me?

Estella and Jonathan returned to Javerton.

After learning the whole story, Jonathan told her, “Don’t worry, I’ll make sure Wayne spends a few more years in prison.”

Estella was tired and didn’t want to talk about Wayne anymore.

Selene heard about her accident and came to the hospital to see her. After learning the reason for her injury, Selene scolded Wayne harshly.

Then she said to Estella, “Estella, why don’t you leave the Symphony Band? With Wayne in trouble, do you think Mr. Waylon will let you off the hook?”

Selene’s words made sense.

The Symphony Band is a great platform for me to realize my musical dreams, but Waylon is one of the leaders of the band. If I stay, my life will definitely be harder in the future.

Seeing her hesitation, Selene said, “Think it over. By the way, I’m planning to start my own business. How about you join me?”

Selene’s suggestion was very tempting to Estella.

My hand will take a few more months to recover, and I can’t play the piano for now. If I join Selene in her venture, it will open up another path for me.
