Chapter 65 The Perfect Hunter

Nathaniel knew Estella wouldn’t be leaving tonight. He didn’t push her. Instead, with a soft smile, he said, “I’ll go see if Mom needs anything.”
With that, he stepped into the guest room.
Zelda came out and was visibly surprised to see Estella. Her face lit up. “Madam, are you coming back home?”
Estella shook her head. “No, I’m just staying temporarily.”
Zelda smiled warmly. “Since you left, Mr. Nathaniel hasn’t said much, but I can tell he still thinks about you. Every time he can’t find something, he still calls for you. Ms. Isabelle came by a few times, but he never let her in. If you ask me, Mr. Nathaniel still has you in his heart.”
But Zelda’s words didn’t sway Estella in the slightest.
As far as she was concerned, Nathaniel was part of the past.
She walked toward her mother’s room and saw Nathaniel crouched there, holding a basin and soaking Victoria’s feet.
She couldn’t help but let out a cold, mocking laugh.
During the three years of their marriage, she’d done the exact same thing for him more times than she could count.
And now he soaked her mother’s feet once, and somehow that made him a good person?
Victoria, of course, looked like she’d been completely won over.
Estella’s heart sank. Nathaniel wasn’t just playing nice-he was manipulating her mother to pressure her into submission.
Didn’t he realize this would only make her hate him more?
Even though she’d temporarily moved back, there was no way she was sleeping in the master bedroom.
Fortunately, the villa had plenty of guest rooms. She picked one at random.
Victoria came over later and was clearly unhappy to learn Estella wasn’t sleeping beside Nathaniel. “You’re being too stubborn. This is just a small disagreement. Talk it out and fix things. You’ll regret it if you keep acting like this.”

Estella could tell her mother had completely fallen for Nathaniel’s act. It exhausted her.
Eventually, she couldn’t take it anymore and decided to lay everything out. “Mom, do know Nathaniel has a crush?”
“I don’t know if he cheated physically, but he definitely cheated emotionally.”

Victoria waved it off. “Oh, you mean that friend of his? Nathaniel already explained everything to me. They’ve been close since childhood-there’s nothing romantic between them. He even promised to keep his distance since he knows you don’t like her.”
Estella let out a scornful laugh. “He really knows how to lie.”
She didn’t believe for a second that nothing happened between Nathaniel and Isabelle.
When Nathaniel recovered his ability to walk, the first thing he did was fly to England to see Isabelle.
Victoria kept trying. “Even if there was something in the past, who didn’t have a first love when they were young? That’s all behind him now. Don’t dwell on it. Just listen to me and live well with Nathaniel.”
Estella didn’t want to hear another word of her mother defending him. She wheeled her back to her room.
“Mom, please stop interfering. I’ll handle my own problems.”
Later that night, after showering and drying her hair, Estella heard a knock at the door.
Thinking it was her mother again, she opened it.
It was Nathaniel.
He stood there with a glass of warm milk, smiling. “Here, drink this before bed.”
Estella didn’t take it.
Still smiling, he started to walk in with the milk.
Estella blocked him, expression cold.
“I don’t want it.”
Nathaniel remembered how cold and distant he’d once been to her. Now, no matter how she treated him, he felt he deserved it.
His voice was soft, his gaze sincere. “Believe it or not, I truly want to fix what we had.”

Estella didn’t answer. She reached out, pushed him back, and shut the door in his face.
His gentle smile vanished. His eyes darkened with something far more dangerous.
He turned away, dumped the milk, and returned to the master bedroom.
