After stepping out of the hospital room, Nathaniel picked up some treats for Victoria.
Just as he was about to return, his phone rang unexpectedly.
He pulled it out on instinct. A video call request had popped up on WhatsApp-coming from a completely unfamiliar number.
He hesitated.
Images from the previous night flashed across his mind. He had been entertaining a few executives in a private lounge. Amid the social play-acting, he’d added several of the club girls on WhatsApp.
The incoming call was from one of them.
As his gaze drifted to the caller’s profile photo, he froze slightly.
The girl’s face bore a faint resemblance to Estella.
Not much-but enough to stir something in him.
He was about to reject the call outright, but for some reason, his finger moved on its own and accepted it.
The screen lit up.
Sure enough, the girl looked just as he remembered-strikingly similar to Estella, especially her eyes. They were just as clear and radiant, like sunlight dancing across a spring lake.
“Mr. Nathaniel, are you coming back to play tonight?”
Her voice was sweet and syrupy, with a charm that seeped through the speaker-difficult to resist.
Hearing her speak, a storm of conflicting emotions churned in Nathaniel’s chest.
He thought of Estella’s usual coldness. Then he looked again at this warm, flirtatious girl who looked so much like her.
A strange impulse surged within him.
He smirked faintly, his tone teasing. “What, you miss me already?”

He’d attended many such gatherings before. He knew how these games worked.
In the past, he never cared for them.
Back then, he’d been infatuated with Isabelle.
Then, he fell for Estella.
But no matter how hard he tried, Estella never opened her heart to him.
Her constant rejections slowly wore down his affection.
Time passed. Nathaniel’s patience eroded. Bitterness and frustration grew wild in his heart like untamed weeds.
His emotions had become harder to control, clouding him in a constant gloom.
If he couldn’t have the one he truly wanted-then maybe finding a stand-in, someone to numb the pain, wasn’t such a terrible option.
“Mr. Nathaniel?”
The girl’s voice pulled him back again. Her smile was bright, her tone coquettish. “Why so quiet?”
Unlike the quiet and elegant Estella, this girl-used to charming male clients-knew exactly how to please.
Her every glance oozed allure.
Nathaniel stared at her, dazed.
“You don’t even know my name yet, right? I’m Molly- If you come tonight, I’ll keep you all to myself-”
She grinned playfully, winking at him-a gesture that looked hauntingly like Estella from long
ago.
Estella used to act like that too, pouting and teasing him with that same innocent tone.
Molly wasn’t Estella-not even close.
But Nathaniel didn’t care anymore.
He nodded lightly. “Alright. I’ll come. Wait for me.”
