Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 106

A sudden realization flashed across Landon's mind. His pupils contracted sharply.

A vague sense of panic swept over him, gone as quickly as it came. He turned abruptly to look at Zinnia.

But Zinnia’s face showed not a trace of anger; in fact, she was so calm it was unsettling, as if nothing in the world could ruffle her.

The calmer she appeared, the deeper Landon's anxiety grew.

He swallowed hard, his voice raspy as he stared at her composed expression. “It was Noelle. I... I’ll have her apologize to you right away.”

He picked up his phone, fumbling to dial, but his hands shook so badly he couldn’t hit the right numbers on the screen.

Zinnia gently lifted a hand, stopping him.

She drew her gaze away from the ruined flowers.

“Let it go. These flowers needed to be replaced anyway.”

With that, she turned and walked steadily back into the house, her face as serene as ever.

Landon hurried after her.

Despite the calm in her eyes, a sense of unease gnawed at him.

He followed at her side, careful and uncertain, lowering his voice. “What kind of flowers do you like? I can have the gardener come by tomorrow, or we could just plant the same ones you had before.”

As soon as the words left his mouth, he glanced at her nervously, unable to hide his apprehension.

But Zinnia only shook her head. “Forget it. I don’t have time to look after them anymore—work’s gotten busy. Might as well hire a landscape designer and redo that whole area, make it into something nice to look at.”

Landon jumped in quickly. “What kind of design do you like? I’ll have them follow your ideas exactly.”

“Whatever you think. I don’t have any particular opinion.” Zinnia pressed her fingertips to her tired brow, then looked up at Landon. After a moment’s hesitation, she said quietly, “We need to talk.”

No more enduring Noelle’s hostility and harassment.

No more awkward excuses to keep her distance from Landon—she could simply leave.

Noelle wouldn’t be upset by her presence anymore, and Landon’s mood wouldn’t be affected.

Three problems solved in one move; surely Landon would see that this was the most reasonable choice for all involved.

A heavy, stifling silence descended over the living room.

The cold winter wind howled outside, and somehow, it seemed to seep into the house, chilling the air despite the warmth from the radiators.

Zinnia wasn’t sure how much time passed before Landon finally spoke, his voice cold and brittle, as if it had been dipped in frost.

“You want a divorce?”
