Landon couldn't shake off what Zephyr had told him that morning.
Something about Zinnia being attacked online by Noelle’s fans—accused of ruining the supposed romance between him and Noelle.
What a mess.
“Uh…”
Yvonne hesitated, clearly holding something back.
Did the boss really have no idea about any of this? Well, it made sense. A guy as busy as Landon probably didn’t even have those entertainment apps on his phone.
No wonder Noelle had racked up a million followers just by being linked to him, and he hadn’t said a single word in response. Anyone would get the wrong idea.
So it wasn’t that he was quietly approving of the rumors—he just didn’t know they existed.
Yvonne could only shake her head, clicking her tongue in silent disbelief.
“Spit it out,” Landon’s low, impatient voice broke the silence.
Yvonne nearly jumped out of her skin. Summoning her courage, she finally explained, “Everyone assumes Noelle is your wife. So, people online are attacking Dr. Quinn, calling her a homewrecker, saying she’s trying to come between you and Noelle. They’re accusing her of all sorts of things—being unprofessional, lacking ethics…”
She trailed off, sneaking a glance at Landon’s expression and deciding it was safest to stop talking.
“If there’s nothing else, I’ll… I’ll get back to work,” she stammered.
When Landon didn’t respond, Yvonne shrank back, hurriedly fleeing the office before he could change his mind and call her back.
The heavy office door closed with a soft click.
Landon pinched the bridge of his nose, his shirt still sticky with coffee from earlier, clinging uncomfortably to his skin.
Frowning, he grabbed his phone and downloaded a few trending gossip apps. The moment he opened one, headlines about himself popped up immediately.
He clicked in, scrolling. The deeper he went, the darker his expression became.
By the time he finally exited Twitter, he was practically seething.
Noelle’s suggestive videos and her coy remarks, all designed to fuel gossip about a secret relationship between them—no wonder the rumors had gotten so out of hand.
Was that what Zinnia had believed all these years? That there was something between him and Noelle that couldn’t be cut off?
