“This man’s name is Quade Zuma. The nurse who’s been taking care of Xander—Jeremy Zuma—is actually his father.”
“So what does this Quade have to do with the medical accident that Zinnia supposedly caused?” Juniper shot Zinnia a glance, frowning as she spoke.
“Zephyr, is your so-called investigation just about pinning everything on a nurse?” Rosalie chimed in from the side, her voice laced with a sneer and the trace of a contemptuous smile.
Ignoring Rosalie, Zephyr instead turned to Noelle, whose face had gone as white as a sheet. With a cold, clipped laugh, he said, “Of course someone has to take the fall. But whose mess is it, exactly? Maybe we should let Noelle explain.”
At that, the Jensens’ faces changed instantly.
Noelle instinctively shrank back, looking nervously at Zephyr. “Why are you asking me? I… How would I know anything?”
Rosalie’s temper flared as she realized Zephyr was trying to drag her daughter into this. “Zephyr, I get that you want to protect your student Zinnia, but how could you accuse my Noelle? Do you honestly think she’d harm her own brother?”
Juniper, however, stayed calm. He simply watched the surveillance footage, deep in thought.
Zephyr still ignored Rosalie and pressed on, pulling up more evidence. “There are sales records from the pharmacy for all the saline bags Quade bought. And here—these are the medical disposables collected from Xander’s room that day. Among them are the saline bags Quade purchased.”
He gave a mirthless laugh, anger flickering in his eyes. “Zinnia is lucky, honestly. The medical waste from that day was still in temporary storage; it hadn’t been hauled away yet. After the incident, we made sure to hold back all of Xander’s used medical supplies for review.”
Noelle looked as if her blood had drained away completely.
“So… what does that prove?” she stammered.
