Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 173

Despite her annoyance, her strict upbringing stopped her from saying anything too harsh in front of Zane.

Sure, she disliked Landon, but she couldn't just leave Zane behind and walk away as if he didn’t matter.

So she went over to Zane and said, “Grandpa, it’s almost mealtime. Let me join you for dinner.”

Zane smiled warmly and nodded. “Of course, of course.”

He shot a sharp glare at Landon and added, “Go get the car.”

Landon touched the tip of his nose and nodded obediently. “Alright, Grandpa.”

Once Landon left, Zinnia helped Zane out of the reception room.

“In just ten days it’ll be Christmas, and everyone will be back home,” Zane said suddenly. “You and Landon should come stay at the old house for a while.”

The suggestion caught Zinnia off guard. She quickly searched for an excuse. “Grandpa, the old house is pretty far from the hospital, and I’ve got a long list of surgeries scheduled at the end of the year. It’d be a bit inconvenient for me to stay there right now.”

“Oh, I see…” Zane let out a disappointed sigh but didn’t push further.

He paused, then said, “Grandpa can tell that you and Landon have been at odds lately—because of that girl from the Jensen family, right?”

Zinnia’s steps faltered, but she shook her head. “No, Grandpa. Don’t worry about us.”

Zane sighed. “Everyone praises Landon for being smart and capable, but for some reason, he keeps getting played by that girl from the Jensen family.”

He sounded genuinely exasperated. “Even an old man like me can see that Noelle’s tricks are so crude, but somehow Landon can’t.”

Zinnia just smiled, refusing to comment.

Maybe it wasn’t that Landon couldn’t see through Noelle. Maybe he simply didn’t want to.
