Back then, Zane had personally taken charge of the search for Violet.
He’d sent his own people to track down any clue to her whereabouts, but what every single investigator found was the same: Violet had thrown herself into the sea for the sake of that lowlife, dying for love.
At first, he refused to believe it. He sent men to comb the waters where she’d disappeared, searching for a month straight, but they found nothing.
Not long after the news of Violet’s death reached her mother, the old woman passed away too.
That became the greatest pain of Zane’s life.
From that point on, the Ford family had an unspoken rule—no one was allowed to mention Violet, not even in passing.
But now, out of nowhere, a young man had appeared—one who looked remarkably like him, and claimed to be Violet’s son. Zane couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to the story.
“There are only two possibilities,” Landon said at last.
“First, this man claiming to be Aunt Violet’s son is a fraud, trying to get close to our family by using her name. Second, Violet’s disappearance all those years ago was orchestrated by someone. Either way, we need to get to the bottom of this.”
He paused, as if something had just occurred to him, then looked up at his father and asked, “Did Grandpa meet that man at Veridian University? What’s his name?”
Yale blinked, caught off guard. “Your grandfather didn’t mention it.”
“Zinnia must know,” Leanna chimed in from the side. “He’s her senior from university.”
The moment Leanna finished, Landon’s expression changed in an instant. He whipped his head around to stare at her.
“He’s Zinnia’s senior?”
Leanna nodded, oblivious to the tension. “Yeah. Why, do you know him, bro?”
Landon’s face darkened as he recalled the man who had provoked him several times in the cafeteria. His gaze turned razor-sharp.
“Yuri,” Landon spat the name, his eyes now cold and dangerous. “So it’s him.”
