“So, what did you want to talk about?” Zinnia broke the silence first.

Landon paused on the walkway, turning to face her with a serious expression. He hesitated for a moment, then finally asked, “How much do you know about Yuri?”

Zinnia was taken aback but quickly replied, “I know a bit about him.”

She assumed Landon was asking from the perspective of a concerned cousin and added, “If you want to know more about him, you can just ask him directly. He’s not unreasonable, and the two of you are related by blood. Maybe if you clear the air, the misunderstandings between your families will be resolved.”

Landon listened quietly as Zinnia finished speaking. The way her eyes lit up when she mentioned Yuri, the clear admiration in her voice—he couldn’t help but feel a pang of bitterness.

His hand, hanging at his side, slowly curled into a fist. Jaw clenched, lips pressed tight, he stayed silent.

Zinnia waited, but when Landon still said nothing—and with his expression growing darker—she began to think he was annoyed at her for meddling.

She quickly clarified, “Of course, that’s just my suggestion. You don’t have to take it. Honestly, I’ve only known Yuri for a couple of months and we haven’t spent all that much time together. If you’re hoping I can tell you everything about him, you’ll probably be disappointed.”

“No,” Landon’s voice was rough as he shook his head. “That’s not what I meant.”

He stared at her, unwilling to look away, and after a tense pause, finally said, “Zinnia, you need to be careful around Yuri. He’s not who you think he is.”

The words had barely left his mouth when Zinnia’s expression turned ice-cold. Her eyes narrowed as she snapped, “Are you seriously badmouthing Yuri right now?”
