Right now, Zinnia felt nothing romantic toward Yuri. She was afraid that if she made promises she couldn’t keep, it would be cruel—like stringing him along.
Yuri noticed her furrowed brow and the conflicted look on her face. He gave a low chuckle.
“It’s alright. I’ll just try a little harder, see if I can earn that number one spot.”
He didn’t press her for an answer, and Zinnia felt a quiet sense of relief.
True to his word, Yuri didn’t make things awkward. That conversation faded into the past as if it had never happened.
Life returned to normal for Zinnia. She continued mentoring her students’ research projects at the medical college, balancing that with her classes.
Once the project was completed and submitted, she finally felt a weight lift from her shoulders.
During this time, Zinnia heard that Yuri’s aunt, Violet Ford, had joined Ford Group under Zane’s arrangement. Violet had previously run a successful logistics firm in Norway, so Landon put her in charge of all Ford Group’s overseas shipping routes.
Yuri, on the other hand, stayed out of the company’s affairs entirely and continued teaching at the medical school.
At one point, he took a month-long leave of absence to return to Norway.
That whole month, Zinnia and Yuri had no contact—not even a single message. She still felt awkward about turning him down, and every time they crossed paths, she couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.
Since Yuri wasn’t reaching out, she didn’t dare make the first move either. The two of them drifted back to the way things were before Yuri had come home.
...
Ford Group.
“Mr. Ford, we have the information.”
Without bothering to knock, Charles strode straight into the CEO’s office.
Landon looked up from the stack of documents in his hands. “Go ahead.”
