A flicker of hatred surged in Yuri’s eyes, and as he looked at Landon, a shadow crossed his gaze.
“Even if it wasn’t the old man, it was still your father—my dear uncle, Yale Ford.”
“Landon, if your family hadn’t destroyed my father, my mother and I wouldn’t have spent those years living like stray dogs.”
“I’ve fought to survive all this time for one reason: to drag your whole family to my father’s grave, to make you all kneel and beg for forgiveness.”
“My only purpose for living has been to ruin everything the Ford family has ever built.”
The more Yuri spoke, the fiercer the hatred burning in his eyes.
“But unfortunately…”
His words trailed off as he gave a bitter, self-mocking laugh.
“You turned out to be smarter than I expected. We’d barely started our plan, and you’d already seen through it.”
He fixed his gaze on Landon. “You handed Ford Group’s logistics division to my mother on purpose, didn’t you? You wanted to see what our next move would be.”
Landon didn’t deny it, but said instead, “If your mother hadn’t had her own schemes, I would have given her the logistics division anyway—as a way of keeping her close for Grandfather’s sake.”
When Landon finished, Yuri let out a cold, derisive laugh.
“Schemes? All we ever wanted was to avenge my father—how is that wrong?”
Landon shook his head. “Wanting revenge isn’t wrong. But you shouldn’t have teamed up with someone like Morton, or let things go this far. You used Zinnia to lure me here, and you got so many of her friends hurt. How are you going to face her?”
At that, Yuri fell silent, his voice caught in his throat.
