Time-Limited Love: A Contract Expired, Not Renewed novel Chapter 70

Zinnia had been waiting for Landon to confront her.

She had even planned to use the opportunity to suggest ending their marriage early.

But the confrontation never came. By the next morning, Landon still hadn’t brought up what happened last night—the cruel words she’d thrown at Noelle.

When she stepped out of her room fully dressed, she found Landon in the kitchen, just as he’d been the day before, setting out breakfast.

“Breakfast’s ready.”

He called out to her, holding two mugs of steaming milk.

His usually stern face showed not a hint of anger.

Had Noelle really not tattled on her?

That didn’t seem like Noelle at all.

Zinnia sat at the table, looking bewildered, and picked up her breakfast, absentmindedly chewing.

“Last night, Noelle said you insulted her,” Landon said suddenly. His tone was almost casual, as though they were discussing the weather.

No accusation. No trace of irritation. Just idle conversation.

Zinnia’s hand froze, her fork hovering midair.

Of course. The chance to complain—Noelle would never pass that up.

But then… why wasn’t Landon angry?

Or was this just the calm before the storm?

Zinnia glanced up at him, her eyes carefully unreadable as she tried to gauge his mood.

“Yes. I did,” she admitted, taking a bite of her sandwich, her voice brisk and unapologetic.

She stayed on guard, ready for Landon to lash out.

Zinnia didn’t notice, but there was a trace of satisfaction in his tone.

Really? Just the idea of Noelle being his mistress was enough to put him in a good mood? If that was all it took, Zinnia thought, maybe she should just hand her place as his wife over to Noelle—would Landon fall to his knees and thank her for it?

She set the half-eaten sandwich down and looked Landon square in the eyes.

“Are you expecting me to apologize to her?”

She didn’t know what story Noelle had spun for Landon, but she doubted it was flattering.

“No, I—” Landon started, but Zinnia cut him off before he could finish.

“I’m not going to apologize.”

She picked up her sandwich, drained the last of her milk, and carried her dishes into the kitchen. Without a second glance, she tossed the rest of the sandwich into the garbage disposal.

“I’m full. Enjoy your breakfast.”
