Chapter 160 Calyx

Amalie is pregnant. She’s pregnant and that means I’m going to be a father. I’m going to be a father Goddess above, this is the the second best day of my life.

‘Not third?‘ Zviad asks.

‘Nope, first was when we mated with Amalie for the first time. Getting you, is definitely the third. But finding out we are growing our family is definitely number two,‘ I say.

I look over at Amalie as she is snuggled up on the couch with Markus. She looks perfect. Uncle Michael is in the kitchen. Uncle William and Gretchen went back to the hospital as they still had to work the rest of the day. Sam went to the pack house.

“I come out now?” Rose asks as she tiptoes into the living room.

“Oh baby, I’m so sorry,” Amalie says as she attempts to try and get up.

Markus tightens his hold on our mate as I get up instead. I pick up Rose and put her on my hip. I walk back to the couch and sit down.

“Petal, how would you feel about being a big sister?” I ask her.

She turns to look up at me with confusion.

“You know that Markus and I are siblings?” I ask. I don’t want to bring up how Melissa is Amalie’s younger sister. That would bring up the wrong image.

“You look like,” she says with a nod.

“Right, but that is because we are twins,” Markus says unhelpfully.

I shoot him a quick glare over Rose’s head. I look back down at our pup. “Yes, we are both brothers. We look out for each other. Since I am older than Markus, I look out for him,” I tell her.

Rose nods her head. I’m not entirely sure if she understands.

Amalie sighs at me and shakes her head. “Come here Rosebud,” she says as she opens her arms.

Rose climbs across the couch. She climbs up into Amalie’s lap as she is still sitting on Markus’s lap.

“Rosebud, we have something that we want to tell you,” she starts.

“Mommy?” Rose asks in confusion.

“How would you like to have a little sister or brother?” Amalie asks.

“What?” she asks.

“Your mommy has a baby in her belly,” Markus says pats where our pup is growing.

“You are going to be a big sister. I’m going to have a baby,” Amalie tells her.

“We get baby tomorrow?” Rose asks as she looks at Amalie’s belly, trying to see any differences.

“Not for six months. Your sibling has to grow inside of me for six months before we get to meet them,” Amalie laughs.

“Not now?” Rose pouts.

“Not yet, the baby growing is tiny. Like the size of speck,” Markus laughs as he tries to explain how big Rose’s sibling is right now.

“When I meet?” Rose asks as she put her ear against Amalie’s stomach. I can only assume that Rose is trying to hear her sibling as she can’t meet them yet.

“In about six months,” Amalie laughs as she leans over and places a kiss on Rose’s head.

“Soon?” she asks with puppy eyes.

“If the baby comes to soon, it could be a bad thing,” I try to explain.

Rose pouts and also looks a little scared at my words.

“Everything is going to be fine,” Amalie tries to assure our pup. “No, the real problem is getting you both not to go into overprotective mode.”

“Can you blame us?” Markus asks as he places a kiss on the side of Amalie’s head.

“No, but I will go crazy if you keep me confined to the house or even the pack house,” she grumbles.

“Love,” I sigh.

“No,” she says sternly. “I love you both. I will be careful. I will even allow Sam and someone else be with me 24/7. But I am not staying cooped up inside all alone. I spent seven years trapped.”

“We are not trapping you, it’s for your safety,” Markus tries.

“Locking someone away still the same, no matter the reason,” she growls. She sends a glare my way, daring me to challenge her.

Markus sends a look my way. He is pleading with me to agree with him. I want to agree with him. Everything fiber of my being, screams that we should keep Amalie locked up and safe. But I know that if we do, we will lose our mate. She will never forgive us for locking her up.

In her eyes, we will be no better than her parents and our father. We might even be worse. Markus and I will have betrayed her trust. I don’t think the mate bond will fix the damage we cause if we

lock her up.

“You are to never be alone,” I say. “Someone is always here with you, besides Rose. You leave the house, you mind link one of us, so we know that you are leaving. Please do not leave the pack lands without Markus or I.”

“Deal,” Amalie says was a smile.

I know she is hoping for more freedom. But right now, this is the compromise we can offer her. Until we find Jarrett, Molly, Thomas, Mathew, and the witches, this is the best option.

Goddess, why is the list of enemies growing? It seems like we are gaining new enemies daily and losing track of the ones we already have.

“Darling,” Markus tries one more time.

“Bring it up again, you can sleep in your room tonight,” Amalie growls as she tries to get out of his

lap.

“I’m sorry,” Markus whines immediately as he tightens his arms around her to keep her in place.

“That’s what I thought,” Amalie smirks as she settles back into his lap.

“Oh, that is cruel,” Markus sighs in defeat.

“I gotta take my wins and make my point when and where I can,” she laughs as she turns her head to kiss Markus.

“I hungry,” Rose says as she looks up at Amalie.

“Well, let’s get you something to eat,” Amalie laughs as she tries to get up.

“I don’t want to cook,” Markus whines.

“Why don’t we go out for lunch?” Amalie asks trying to come up with a compromise.

“No,” I growl swiftly. “We don’t know who to trust in the pack and we are not risking your health.”

“Okay, you cannot run a pack efficiently if you do not trust your pack,” Amalie growls at me.

“I trust our pack. I just don’t trust them with you,” I grumble as I that makes any sort of sense. There is an undeniable urge to protect Amalie and our growing pup from every danger. That urge is growing stronger.

‘It’s mate protecting mate and pup urge. But also, Alpha protecting Luna urge,‘ Zviad tells me.

‘This is only going to get worse over the next six months, isn’t it?‘ I sigh.

‘Welcome to the world of being an Alpha,‘ he snickers at me.

‘You are going to feel the same,‘ I growl.

‘Yes, but I’m a wolf, I get a free pass,‘ he laughs at me.

‘Bastard,‘ I growl back at him.
