Amalie
“I’m going to the pack house with you,” I say as I stretch for the day. I sigh as my back pops a few times. I don’t want to leave the warmth of the bed, but I need to get out of the house.
The twins have encouraged me to stay home the last two days. Claiming that I need rest. Beren and I sighed but put up with their mother henning. If it put their minds at ease, I would try my best.
But now, now I am stir crazy. I want out of the house. So, either they take me with them to the pack house, or I am going to break out myself after they are gone. With or with out Sam and whoever he brings with him.
Sam has resigned himself to his fate of putting up with my craziness.
Vickie also hasn’t helped him any, as she has spent the last two days here with me. Sam had tried to keep her shenanigans down. His hope was that Kira, our new Beta female, would help. The three of us together as turned into
a fire and oil situation.
Kira and I haven’t helped reigning her in. Vickie found out about the baby and has taken it upon herself to plan the baby shower as if she is my sister and planning it for me. Kira giving her input on things as she planned out an escape from the house.
Kira and I have become fast friends after she learned what I had suffered at the hands of Marie and Thomas. She
shared stories of her parents and what she remembered of them. Kira gushed about her brother. She refused to
believe that he had been killed. Kira called it sibling intuition, but she knew her brother is still alive.
So, the three of us had run Sam up a wall yesterday, pestering him about going for a run. Kira wanted to see the pack lands, I wanted Beren to have time free to run, and Vickie was just along for the ride.
Sam had to remind us, constantly, that I was still a white wolf and a target. Not mention, I am now pregnant. If I thought the twins were protective before, it paled in comparison. One of the twins mind linked me every hour, on the hour, to make sure I was okay.
“Darling,” Mark says with a sigh.
I glare at him. We are not having this conversation again. “No,” I say sternly.
“We can’t protect as well there,” Cal tries.
“Bullshit,” I growl. I am unable to say anything else as Rose comes bursting into our room.
“Mommy!” she shouts as she volts herself onto the bed. She lets out a giggle as she burrows under the blankets.
“You both are going to be at the pack house, along with Sam and James. That means Kira is going to be there. Besides myself, that means that there will be five other ranked members at the pack house. Would you like to try

again?” I demand as I pull Rose into my lap, so I do not smack one of my mates for being so dumb.
(50),
“We still don’t know who is on keeping you away from us. We don’t who else we cannot trust,” Mark tries this time.
“Strike two,” I growl at them. “You want to try for strike three and see what happens?”
Both share a look before they are conceding.
“Good, you are learning,” I say happily as I place a kiss on each of their cheeks before I place Rose in Cal’s lap. I then finish getting up. I pull a sundress from the closet and my undergarments from the dresser. I walk into the bathroom to shower for the day.
I can hear Cal and Mark whispering to each other through the door. I let out a sigh. This is going to be a learning experience for all of us. But, I can’t stay here. I spent too long held captive in Thomas and Marie’s home. I will not be held captive in another home, not again.
I get ready for the day. I feel like I fly through my morning routine. I leave the bathroom in record time.
“Are you sure you want to go?” Cal asks me once more.
“Ask me again and see what happens,” I growl as I snag Rose from the bed. I practically storm out of the bedroom and to the dining room.
“What did the boys do now?” Uncle Mike asks as I sit down.
“Try to convince me to say home. I love you, but I cannot stay cooped up here,” I sigh.
“No one should make you,” he says as he wheels himself over. He places a bowl of fruit loops on the table and Rose snags a handful. “Breakfast will be ready after bit.”
“Anything I can do to help?” I ask as I snag a few pieces cereal.
“Just glare at the boys when they come in here moping,” he laughs as he wheels himself out.
I nod my head.
‘You can call him dad,‘ Beren says.
‘It’s too soon. I just asked him to practically adopt me the other day,‘ I hiss back.
‘So?‘ she challenges.
‘So, it’s too soon,‘ I say again.
“What has you frowning so deeply?” Uncle Will asks as he comes into the dining room with a yawn.

“Nothing,” I say as I snap to attention. I say it too quickly to be believable.

But Uncle Will says nothing as he sits at the table with a mug of coffee. “Sam will have the adoption papers finished by this afternoon,” he says after he takes a sip of coffee
