After all, it had been Derrick who had suggested that the two teams train together. Zachary might be on his team, but Derrick wasn't about to openly retaliate against Noelle.
Noelle, on the other hand, wasn't someone who kept things to herself. She treated members of both teams the same.
On top of that, she had Jude's special attention. No matter how much Derrick might grumble about it, he knew better than to offend her.
Her expression remained cool. "Let's keep training. On the track, it always comes down to ability."
"Right. Guys, let's work hard," Jenna chimed in, eager to change the subject. "Even Nicola's improved a lot this time. Next round, she's bound to hit 85 on the total score!"
Everyone glanced at Nicola at once. She shifted uneasily.
Derrick was, after all, her ex.
Ever since the joint training had started, she'd been trying to avoid the Swift Racing crew, but Jenna's loud remark had once again thrown her into the spotlight.
Apart from Derrick's surprise, most of the members on his team looked at her with mockery.
It made her want to sink through the floor.
"Nicola, give me a hand with the data," Alexis suddenly called her.
Silently grateful for Alexis' intervention, Nicola lowered her head and followed Alexis out.
Just then, Jayden handed Noelle a bottle of mineral water. "Ms. Quinn, you've worked hard. Here, have some water."
Nicola's eyes widened. She meant to stop Noelle, but in the next second, Noelle had already taken the open bottle and gulped the water down.
Nicola stared at her, feeling utterly torn. After a moment of hesitation, she still went after Alexis.
…
A few days later, Noelle received a call from Raymond.
His voice was trembling with excitement. "Ms. Quinn, it turned out the car you borrowed actually belonged to Mr. Hamilton!"
Albert's name alone carried weight. He was a legend in the custom-car scene, a well-known man among Brindley's elite.
