Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 120

"I'm sorry for causing you trouble, Mommy," Bonnie murmured apologetically after she was settled into her new seat.

Her eyes welled up with tears threatening to spill, and Noelle quickly crouched down to wipe them away. She was so precious and thoughtful that seeing her cry made Noelle's heart ache.

"You did nothing wrong today, Bonnie. We have every right to defend what belongs to us. Standing up for ourselves is never wrong. If we let others pick on us without fighting back, we're just giving them more reason to continue."

Noelle had never been the type to preach blind courtesy. Courtesy depended on who she was dealing with, and there was no reason to be polite with shameless people like Clifford and Lola.

Holding the ruined race car model, Bonnie looked both upset and aggrieved. "But this is the first gift you ever gave me, Mommy. I'd only played with it for two days, and now it's broken."

With that, tears rolled down her cheeks like pearls again. She truly loved this gift and cherished Noelle's sentiment behind it.

Noelle was deeply moved. She'd given Zayne plenty of such race car models in the past, but he'd never valued or taken care of them.

Ruffling Bonnie's hair, she reassuringly said, "This race car model can be fixed. I promise it'll look new again, and you won't see the slightest trace of damage."

"Is that true?" Bonnie lit up in joy. She was terrified that Noelle was just saying that to comfort her.

Amused by her reaction, Noelle's tone softened as she continued, "Of course. And I'll give you a lot more gifts from now on, so you don't have to be sad."

Bonnie clutched the race car model tightly against her chest, whispering, "But none of them will be Cherry Pie anymore." She'd even named it.

But almost immediately, she lifted her head and grinned at Noelle. "You're right, Mommy. Cherry Pie can be fixed, and when it is, I'll take extra good care of it and make sure it never gets hurt again!"

Bonnie, in turn, was trying to comfort her.

Noelle chuckled before she spotted something unusual. Off to the side, Louis was speaking in low tones with a foreign coach. Both of them kept glancing around nervously before slipping off toward a restroom.

Her instincts told her that something was terribly wrong about them.

The foreign coach's uniform belonged to Norland. Their racers and coaches were notorious in the International Grand Prix for their underhanded tricks, so they had a poor reputation and were widely disliked.
