"If that's the case, I'll leave the intensive training camp and only come back after the International Grand Prix is over. You can see then if Derrick will come back when I'm not around," Noelle declared coldly.
Everyone was stunned by her words, while the members of Flame Speed Racing panicked.
"Don't leave, Ms. Quinn. You have every right to stay in the intensive training camp. You're not the one who lost the race or got poor results. Why should you be the one to leave?"
Panicked, Jayden said, "Besides, anyone with eyes can see that every racer that you guided improved by leaps and bounds. Derrick is responsible for his own poor performance. They're wrong for pinning the blame on you."
Jenna nodded and glared at the other racers. "He's right! Derrick probably left the intensive training camp because he was feeling guilty. He must have been scared that the coaches were going to give him a hard time.
"He's the captain of a racing team, but he gave such a poor performance. They should be blaming him instead of you!"
Alexis looked conflicted as she studied Noelle's expression. She recalled how she had seen Noelle speak to Derrick before the race and had thought that Noelle was acting strangely. Derrick kept losing after their conversation, but Noelle didn't speak up.
Perhaps Noelle already knew then that something was amiss with Derrick.
"That's enough," Noelle said calmly. "Since my presence in the intensive training camp makes you so uncomfortable, I should just leave. If someone's total points surpass mine, I'm even willing to give them my qualifying spot in the International Grand Prix."
Everyone's faces twisted. Those who were complaining the most were far inferior to Noelle. In fact, their points were even lower than Alexis'.
"I'll tell the head coach that I'm taking some time off. I hope that everyone will continue training hard even after I leave. Don't run your mouths anymore. I don't want to carry the burden of being the bad omen of the intensive training camp."
She then turned around and left, leaving the members of Flame Speed Racing to chase after her.
Jayden pointed at the other racers and roared furiously, "Just you wait!"
If Noelle left the training camp, who was going to take up the responsibility to train them and give them guidance? Jayden still wanted to rely on Noelle to help him surpass his own limits.
The other racers began to discuss among themselves after Noelle left. Raging Fire Racing's Jamie Erikson was wearing an intrigued expression as he asked, "Do you think she's being serious or just joking around about leaving the intensive training camp?"
