Derrick had already handed in his resignation at the intensive training camp. Coincidentally, Noelle had left the mountain at the time, so they weren't able to bid farewell to each other.
The moment Noelle stepped into the camp, she realized that something was amiss. She heard the sounds of a conversation when she passed by the break room.
"Nothing good has happened ever since she joined the intensive training camp. She really is a bad omen. I don't know what's going to happen to Swift Racing now that Mr. Clarkson has left."
"Nicola also died because of her. She wouldn't have died if she hadn't tried to look for evidence that Shannon was responsible for the drugging. Hazel too. Anyone would go crazy if they were backed into a corner to that extent."
"We don't know who she's going to turn her sights on next. It's not going to be us, right?"
Noelle knew the people who were speaking. Two of them were members of Swift Racing, while the other two belonged to the other race teams. She rarely interacted with them normally.
She was just about to turn around and leave when she heard Alexis' voice. "Are you done talking? What's the point of talking badly about someone behind their back?
"Everyone's devastated by Nicola's death. Besides, the mastermind is Shannon, and she's also the one who committed those crimes. Why are you trying to pin the blame on our captain instead?"
Jayden sneered, "They must be jealous. They're annoyed because our captain is just too good, so they're coming up with ways to slander her. Ms. Quinn's skills far surpass theirs, so they're just showcasing how idiotic they're being right now!"
"You!"
The other person leapt to their feet and glared at Jayden. "I dare you to say that again!"
Jayden wasn't bothered by their threat and stuck his tongue out at them. "What's wrong? Do you want another verbal lashing? Do you really think I'll repeat what I just said just because you asked me to? I don't take orders from you!"
Even Felix, who usually preferred to remain silent, scoffed. "How can you not acknowledge all of Ms. Quinn's contributions to the intensive training camp? It's obvious that every member of Swift Racing and Turbolt Racing has been improving.
"She creates specialized training plans for every racer here. She's always the earliest one to reach the training hall, and the last to leave. We know better than you what type of person she is!"
"He's right!" Jenna agreed, wearing a dissatisfied expression. "I can't believe there are people who are still willing to defend Hazel. Why don't you try getting slandered by her every day? She was constantly taking pleasure in Ms. Quinn's suffering. Do you really expect Ms. Quinn to thank her for it?"
Noelle never would have imagined that the members of Flame Speed Racing had such sharp tongues. They weren't allowing the other racing team members to trample all over them.
She couldn't help but smile as gratitude radiated through her chest. She would never forget how the members of Flame Speed Racing defended her.
"All of you are on the same team as her, so it's only natural that you'll speak on her behalf. But just take a look at what happened to Derrick! He was doing fine when he was in Swift Racing, but his performance kept deteriorating after he started training with Flame Speed Racing.
