Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 41

It was obvious that Noelle was avoiding Hunter. He didn't force her to accept his advances, but Hazel, who was standing in a corner, had witnessed the entire scene unfold.

The next day, the sun was already setting on the horizon when most of the team returned to the intensive training camp.

Wanting to improve her stamina, Hazel decided to run a couple of laps in the field. She had just changed into a set of activewear when she ran into Shannon, who was practicing walking with a crutch.

Shannon had a terrible limp, looking as if it took everything in her just to take a few steps forward. Two members of Turbolt Racing were by her side and watching over her. When she spotted Noelle, her eyes shone with a murderous glint.

"I'm not going to let you off the hook so easily," she warned.

Noelle had already predicted that Shannon wouldn't give up that easily. To flip one's car during a league championship was incredibly humiliating for a racer who was part of the national team.

Her lips curved into a smile. Noelle wasn't bothered at all by Shannon's threat. "You're welcome to challenge me again whenever you want. If flipping your car isn't enough for you, I can help you experience something even more exhilarating."

She looked at the two racers standing next to Shannon. They were the same people who pushed her into the pit. Noelle hadn't forgotten about her vow to take revenge on those who had wronged her.

Sensing the fury blazing in Noelle's eyes, the two racers didn't dare look at her. They were terrified that if they made eye contact with her, they would end up meeting the same fate as Shannon of having several of their bones broken.

Shannon probably wouldn't be able to train on the racetrack for several months because of her broken bones. For a racer who was in her prime, it was undoubtedly a huge blow to her career. However, Shannon was also the one who provoked and hurt Noelle first.

Noelle's control on the racetrack was flawless. Even if Shannon was dissatisfied and wanted to lodge a complaint, it was likely that they would conclude the accident to be her own fault—the car had only flipped over because Shannon hadn't controlled it properly. The blame would never fall on Noelle's shoulders.

"Don't worry. I'm very tolerant of those who admit their mistakes and turn over a new leaf," Noelle said to comfort the other two racers. "But you'd better pray that you never meet me on the racetrack."

Her harsh words caused the two racers to shrink back in fear. They ran off as fast as their feet could take them, not daring to help Shannon any longer. They were terrified that Noelle would do something to them.

Shannon's face had turned a ruddy red from how furious she was. Noelle simply smiled at her and said, "It looks like your friendship with them isn't all that strong."

Noelle then turned around and left after saying her piece.

Shannon hurled her crutch to the ground before realizing that she had no way of kneeling down to pick it up again. She clenched her teeth and shouted at Noelle's retreating back. "I'm not going to let you off the hook so easily, Noelle!"

Noelle had only walked a short distance before she sneezed twice, loudly.
