Too Good for You: The Ex-Wife You Lost novel Chapter 53

As night fell, though the racers' makeup was blotchy, the softer glow of the lights made the night shoot far less unforgiving than the day.

The group of racers sprawled out on a field, clinking beer bottles before breaking into wild dances around a bonfire. After a full day of filming, everyone was already more at ease in front of the camera, so the night shoot went smoothly.

The only challenge was the sweltering heat and the high-intensity schedule, causing most of the team to be on the verge of heatstroke.

When they finally wrapped, Elijah was very satisfied. "Great work, everyone! Go get some rest. Tomorrow's shoot will commence at 10:00 am. Ms. Quinn, I'll be counting on you for the makeup."

Noelle nodded with a calm smile. "No problem. I'll make sure that it's properly done. But we don't have much makeup left, so the advertising company will need to prepare a proper set of cosmetic products."

She added casually, "If it weren't for Tina's apprentice reminding me, I wouldn't have known her cosmetics and tools were so expensive. I'd hate to accidentally damage them. I'd feel really bad if that were to happen. Mr. Maxwell, perhaps you should coordinate with the advertising company about this."

The makeup artists had been hired by the advertising company, and the company, in turn, received instructions from the client. As the director, Elijah, who was brought in by the company, had the authority to raise such issues.

So, he immediately replied seriously, "Alright. I'll have the person in charge from the advertising company handle it right away. They're here on set for this shoot, so this can be sorted out."

Hearing that, Tina immediately jumped in. "Mr. Maxwell, there's no need to trouble them. Ms. Quinn can use my makeup and tools as she needs. My apprentices spoke out of turn earlier. I apologize on their behalf."

Tina was worried. If the advertising company were asked to bring in the cosmetics, she was sure that they'd have her replaced in a heartbeat! Then, she'd never get hired for another campaign again. She wasn't about to ruin her career like this!

Elijah glanced at Noelle, clearly leaving the decision to her.

Initially, Noelle had only meant to put Tina in her place so that she wouldn't dare pull any tricks in the coming days. Now that Tina had shown some tact, Noelle didn't intend to press further.

"In that case, we'll do as Tina says," Noelle replied evenly. "But Tina, make sure you check your cosmetics and tools carefully. I don't want to be blamed for damaging them if anything were to happen to them later."

Noelle had intentionally said that in Elijah's presence to warn Tina not to try any underhanded schemes again. Though she didn't know why Tina had targeted her, a little preemptive warning couldn't hurt.

Tina was unwilling, but she had no choice except to nod repeatedly. "I got it. Thank you for the reminder, Ms. Quinn."

Noelle gave her a faint smile and left the set.

The racers had been put up in farmhouse rooms on the mountain. The company had cleaned and prepared the rooms in advance, so it wasn't an issue to sleep in them. Even the sheets and blankets were fresh.
